Approval of comments?

I don’t understand why sometimes when I comment on a post, it goes through right away. Yet with others it doesn’t show up but says it will after it is approved. Approved by whom? I’m trying to comment on MY OWN discussion that I created, and it’s not going through. When I search around my notifications and profile, there’s nothing waiting for me to approve on my own post.

@MrSciGuy waiting approval from bots or human moderators. Looking for violation of this forums TOS. It gets us all. May the odds be ever in your favor

Yup, we've all triggered moderation. This forum platform (VanillaForums) has several built-in controls for moderation, like keywords or flood control (too many posts within X number of seconds). Everyone has complained about it since the forum went live, and some improvements have been made, but it's still far from perfect.
One thing that many people have experienced is when you hit the post button and immediately realize that you made a spelling error. So you quickly edit your post. When you hit submit the second time (just a few seconds after the first one) it triggers flood control and your post (which showed up fine the first time) disappears into moderation).
Now I'll usually ignore small errors. If I must edit a post, I force myself to wait a minute first.
