Downloading assets

Please forgive me for being clueless. I know this has been talked to death in these forums, but I am still unclear...

Am I understanding it right that "downloading all assets" basically puts all of the info like pictures and animations on your phone so that you can access them quicker when you are playing? And that "downloading essential assets" does the same, just less of them?

So, if you have the room on your phone, you would want to do "all," correct?

I have never done this download, but I was thinking of doing it so I went and looked again. It used to say 3300 MG and now it says 1851 MG for all and 660 MG for essential. Did they remove some stuff, or make it smaller, or am I just completely reading this all wrong?

Believe it or not, I used to be so much better at this stuff. 🤣

@CeruleanGirl @MrSciGuy there are a few possibilities that come to mind. One is that simply by using the game, you have been downloading some of those assets, just on the fly. If they store them it may reduce the package size by those you already have. The next major thought is the difference between packages and the assets themselves. To speed things up the assets will be compressed (like a zip) but then they will uncompress on your device. This means there are really 2 different sizes, one is the download size the other is the size it will take up on your phone. Obvious the latter is generally the most important.
