Masterful Traces - Essential Points

Some spells are easy to trace, others are more difficult. Each spell trace seems to have its own “essential points” that must be touched in order for the trace to even count. These show up in the form of red dots when you do not successfully trace a spell. Is there any resource that has a map of not only the trace it self but also the red dot essential points that must be touched on each one? The spell trace below for Flipendo is a particularly difficult one for me to get better than “good.” Even though my trace might seem perfect or almost, it rarely goes above good. Any sort of resource as for where the essential points are that need to be hit would be extremely helpful. Even just posting screenshots of successful casts that are great or masterful would definitely be helpful.

In this particular screenshot, I purposefully trailed off course at the end because I seem to get a better result than if I stuck exactly to the trace pathway.

@MrSciGuy in my experience the dots will move so it isn't always the same. However, cutting corners and completing it slightly faster often leads to better results.

I struggle with flippendo myself, so I feel your pain! I have occasionally got masterful (and the trace is typically not perfect even then!), but I typically go for speed over accuracy. That gets me more greats as long as my cast doesn't go too awry.

I didn't really get good at flippendo until after the last community day! Still need more umbrellas, though.

I found this practice tool awhile ago, but admittedly I find actually doing the spells in game a better way to learn them: https://gamepress.gg/wizardsunite/beginners/spell-trace-practice-tool. I can't get it to load at the moment, but it gave feedback on which parts were being missed and speed. It works better opened on a mobile device.

I have taken screenshots of the different spells and then traced the picture several times to help with muscle memory tracing the spell. This greatly improved my great and masterful spell casting.

@MrSciGuy - in my experience, a square root symbol - ie, straight across at about halfway between top and bottom of parabola - instead of following path’s last parabola, yields better results

risk is that every once in a while, you get the red dot of pain, ie lose 1 spell energy even though it won’t even try to get the spell cast against the confoundable

but i have gotten a decent number of masterfuls and lots of greats, even though square root does not faithfully follow the path

    weird, huh ?

@kiheikid Yes that is weird! It’s strange how some of them have to be right not the money and others work better when you’re actually a little less accurate.

Glad it's not just me puzzling over that. I coulnd't figure out how sometimes with tremors I get better results than when I finally have steady hands! It all seems so very haphazard, though I imagine with it being coded there must be some sort of logic behind it? If only we can figure it out lol

speed is more important than accuracy, it seems

    so be bold, not tentative

    go for it

fake it til you make it

@kiheikid The square root sign does indeed seem to help. Thanks for the tip!
