Anyone else having the issue where they play the brilliant runes from the current event and then get nothing associated with the event? Frustrating and feel like I keep wasting runes...

Yes! I am having same issue! Wanted so many runestones and time. All other tasks done just can’t get out of level 3
Same here! Hope they increase the drop rate soon... don't want to waste more rune stones.
it took me 4 brilliant runestones to get my 3 malfoy crest fragments - at the time, i had 1 more runestone in reserve
it took my wife 5 brilliant runestones to get her 3 fragments (4 stones yielding 2 fragments yesterday; 1 stone yielding 1 fragment today, and at the time she had 3 more stones in reserve)
overall we consider ourselves lucky (but lack of 100% return rate for family foundable fragment corresponding to family of runestone continues to be sore spot)

It is more likely to give a drop higher in the tower. They seem guaranteed in Forest and dark.
Not sure about anyone else but I'm on stage 3 and used about 10 ext potions but not updating on the task force reward.. Anyone else having this problem??
@Hushwig91 , I commented on your original post about it. Hope that helps. Use regular exstimulo only. The lightest blue one.
I used 5 brilliant event runestones and did not get any Malfoy Crest fragments - any suggestions?
Keep trying, @Am4nd4. Sometimes, luck isn't on our side. Try fighting in the highest chambers recommended for your profession rank.
@Ginnungagap my drops were all over the map. Which in reality I'm okay with as I really enjoy playing the fortresses. 😊. And there was food, and wine and a bunch of friends to help round out the fortress run. I think we had drops at all different levels and all different times. Only once did two of us get a malfoy crest on the same challenge once in five runs. For me it was tower 2, forest 1, and earlier in the day ruins 3.
@Bormacska you and your friends really know how to enjoy your fortress battles! Now my quest is to find a fortress in range of a place where I can have food and wine.
@MtPollux we scoured the WU map to find a good spot. I recommend a shopping center area or higher end mall. I am lucky enough to live near Washington's wine tasting area, where we often can do wine tasting and hit inns or a fortress without alienating our muggle peeps. 😊

Yes. Very frustrating that the success of a task completely lies in the hands of the game. I have been playing diligently everyday and after three days have not gotten my final Malfoy Crest to complete the task in order to move to Tasklist 4. The first two dropped right away.
I am having the same issue as well! Super annoying!
Me too, ten times used and still need two more crest pieces. I think this might be the first event I fail. Super disheartened and also find it crazy that someone could literally spend hundreds and still not complete the event as it seems the drop is random with a low chance of getting a piece. I've seen one person say they got 2 pieces from ten challenges. That's ridiculous.
I got all 3 Malloy crests but it only recorded 2/3 in the special tasks so I can’t seem to complete. I’ve played more challenges with tunes tones trying to get a 4th crest to see if it will complete, but haven’t been able to get another crest so I can finish the event. Any ideas for me?
I got 3 for 4 in ruins 7- is that tower chamber 2? Hope that might help.

both my wife and i went 3 for 3 using brilliant fighting forces runestones in tower chamber 3 to get the brilliant order of the phoenix photo fragments
