October Brilliant Event - Trace Tonic
The Trace Tonic spawns WAY more oddities (all spawns for me were oddities). Those oddities may include dragons outside your region!

@Ginnungagap WAIT, WHAT?! Why oh why do I have to be at work right now?!
I noticed that too! I'm thinking of using the tonic and dark detectors later tonight to try it out more.
But be careful not to use up all your tonics. Save some for the next half of the event too!
@Ginnungagap wait what?! More Dragons 😯 Awesome!!! 😃
Thanks for the heads up. I’ll definitely be brewing and using more of the Trace Tonic now.
1 doxy + 2 werewolves + 2 vampires + 1 horned serpent between 2:30pm and 3pm today (oct. 9th), among other more mundane foundables that popped up due to trace detection tonic
alas, no dragons, foreign or domestic
Well shucks. I used a Trace Tonic today and had only one common Oddity in the entire 30 minutes.
I'll be watching this thread to see how I can improve my use of the Tonic.
For me it works better when I am moving than if I am just staying around my house. Perhaps others have a different experience.
thank you for the tip ... i was sitting in library (which is a fortress on the map) so i could stay plugged in
maybe next time i’ll use battery pack and try the tonic on the move
The event has ended, at least on my end it appears that the Trace Tonic is back to its previous useless state.
Tonight was a Full Moon. So I decided to go out despite the uncertain weather and hunt for werewolves. At the end of the street, a yellow-plume Oddity. Twas only a vampire. I took the Tonic, in case it helped.
For half an hour, I walked, and the only Traces the Tonic revealed were plumeless, stupidly common ones. The only oddity I saw was a Pixie, not wreathed in the pinkish twirl, it was there purely because it was night time.
After the tonic had ended, I saw another yellow-plumed oddity... another Vampire.
After that, more common dross. Not a werewolf in sight, in an hour and more than 3km walked.
All that brewing time, all those ingredients, for no useful result.
Adding insult to injury, as I was coming home, a last Oddity appeared, maybe there was still hope. Nope. It was a blasted Erkling.
not sure why we are supposed to save trace detection tonics for next community day on 10/19 ... during those 3 hours, tonics will spawn only WVD (werewolves and vampires and doxies), yet the whole 3 hour period is supposed to spawn more WVD anyway
seems quite expensive to use tonic to boost further what is already supposed to be boosted — WVD
only doxies are really worth my while this time, because i am at 7/50 on registry page
meanwhile, vampires and werewolves are filled up and won’t reset to zero until i can get 14 more centaur bows and then prestige ... not going to happen any time soon
so maybe save tonics for brilliant event week 2 and hope they will work the same way again ... 3 fluffys down, just 12 more to go
;-p
Waiting for more Doxies too. At the moment I Prestiged the first page to Bronze, but I'm still waiting on enough Doxies to start using Oddity Runes again, I don't want the already uncertain Family Fragment reward wasted on the Egg, currently maxed.
It's going to be expensive if used during Community "Day", while also keeping two in store for the second week of the Brilliant event.
@kiheikid because there is 300% oddity experience and oddities have a chance at dropping dark arts runes. I would be suprised if there were enough oddities to keep you occupied defeating them throughout the event through normal spawns alone.
