It does seem kind of crazy that most of them have such a long grow time. I have to go into town to find a greenhouse. I'm not staying in town for seven hours or so, or going in twice in one day just to harvest a virtual ingredient!
When I see a greenhouse I pick the random plant for ingredients & maybe spell energy, and I check to see if anything is growing. If the pot is empty, then I plant something that might be useful to other people, but I never get to harvest it. Maybe that's the idea? Encouraging a community spirit where people plant and boost stuff for others.
It may be Niantic & WB's desire to make growing ingredients a community spirit thing but I suspect most people aren't going to make the effort to do so if they get no reward whatsoever for doing so. I'd like so see N/WB reward growers with something ( a remote share of the ingredient, XP, fragment, etc) if someone harvests something they planted. That would encourage more people to plant!
i agree with skyqueene and firenightingale, it seems to be a community thing and absolutely should reward the player who planted it, even if it was slightly less then if you were present during the harvest , it is better then nothing at all.. one question though, do you have to be present as soon as its timer runs up or is there a small window to get there? 😮
Edit: never mind saw a previous thread with the answer, thank you :)
You do get achievement rewards for planting N seeds at greenhouses. That is the main reason I do it, I'm rarely going to be back at that specific greenhouse to harvest when it is ready. I mostly focus on low-water requirement plants if I'm short on water, or what I have most seeds of, not really what I think people will want. Mostly the greenhouses near me are already growing stuff when I get there.
@SkyeQueene that's a fab idea about getting a specific reward other than the general greenhouse reward for planting & someone else harvests, even if its just 1 coin it would encourage more to do it & we could all pick up ingredients easier!
How do we get Niantic to see our suggestions? It's a good one 😊
@Zakhi What do you mean "decrease the time with spell energy"? I can increase the production amount but I haven't found a way to speed up the growth rate. Are you referencing a skill tree feat?
@CytopeAchen Maybe I tell it bad. There is a bar in Growing tab in greenhouses. If you use your spell energy on it, the production speed will be higher or multiple. That's my idea to use it in late game, not now.
@Zakhi its a multiplier. Instead of 2 Leaping Toadstools you can get 18 if you add 50 energy. Unfortunately, you still have to wait the full 24hrs for them to grow though.
I agree with @SkyeQueene too but I also think we should have a personal greenhouse to grow a plant and to multiply upto a maximum of 5 using spell energy in a 24hr period.

No notifications and you must go back to the greenhouse to harvest.

The greenhouses mechanic is rather useless if don't you have one near your house, work, school, etc.

You can guess your plan for tomorrow and plant 1D cooldown seed, or just plant 1h cooldown seeds and stay there to harvest them.
By the way, you can decrease the time with spell energys. It'll be usefull a few months later from now.

@CytopeAchen Thank you. I didn't use that yet. I think that was multiplier for the time decreasing!
