Traces have pink throbbing skirts?

I sometimes see pink pulses radiating out from a few traces in the map. Other traces in the same view do not show these pulses. If I beat these traces, my winnings appear normally, but then (within a minute or so) they disappear: all traces of the traces are lost (couldn’t resist that!) except the charge to my spell-point inventory. Associated events suggest a network timeout may be involved.

Does this pink pulse mean something like “lost contact with server”?

Do you see these when you are using a Trace Detection potion? I would expect to see them then. Also, if you use Dark Detectors anything spawned as a result of the Dark Detector has a "throbbing skirt" (red or yellow, I forget). Should mean nothing with regards to server connection.

I've never encountered this behavior, aside from what @Applify has mentioned. I might be able to understand better if you could provide some screenshots of the pink pulse, plus your registry rank/count before the encounter and after.
