The answer as to what eggs to collect

There has been a lot of good discussion about which eggs to favor during this event. Some have said to focus on red because of the sweet, sweet XP bump. Others think you should focus on the dragon that will complement your native in the registry. These strategies are, unfortunately, wrong.
You should be collecting white portmanteaus. Because white is the color of the Antipodean Opaleye.
The Antipodean Opaleye is one of the most beautiful dragons, with shimmering scales and pupil-less, multicoloured eyes. It produces a very vivid scarlet flame.
Why, you ask?
Because this is the coolest dragon and you should always pick the coolest dragon.
Now I know what all you Aussies and Kiwis and other Oceansists are going to say, "but that is my native!"
We know, we're all envious and maybe you should just be content to have the coolest dragon and keep quiet about it.

@Osprey1 I agree with the coolness factor, but wouldn’t mind the added bonus of opening port keys faster as well with the Opal eggs!

I'm collecting Common Welsh Green eggs, because that dragon shares the same registry page as Peruvian Vipertooth, which will be native to my region.
It's not about portmanteaus,
It's not about coolest dragons,
It's only @Osprey1 showing off his ability of putting some pics in one post.

You want to get the 'other' one to that which is native to your region, so you have at least a chance of being able to prestige one of the pages.

I understand the prestige factor, but tbh, I have a higher chance of traveling to Europe and catching the Welsh Green in its native territory than I do of traveling to the other two regions. So I’m going after the other two regions...🤷🏼♀️ And I do love the coolness factor @Osprey1 mentioned.
I catch them all 🤷♀️ they are dragons, obviously they are beautiful
About prestiging the page...... How can we get those eggs after that? Are they gonna keep those portmanteaus around? Tbh, i dont like my map filled with them.
This is just a guess @SumaHan, but I imagine the special portmanteaus will go away after the weekend and the various dragon eggs will only be awarded occasionally as drops in fortress challenges and portkeys.

In order to prestige bronze page of vipertooth, 12 fragments is required. I once thought I would accumulate 8 welsh green Portmanteaus for Sept 7th- day of dragons, it doesn’t make sense now. I will leisurely unlock what ever peculiar Portmanteaus I encounter anyway.

I was defo wanting to concentrate on anything but the welsh green cos onvs thats all we'll get later in uk.

The Chinese Red definitely makes the most sense as that gives us the 25% xp bump. That should mean that you get additional xp in fortresses and portmanteau. Isn't that a no brainer? Other than the beauty of the Opal, it seems like the red is a bigger bang for your wizard.
If every region cooperates and just focuses on the dragon that shares the registry page with their native dragon, all the bonuses will be unlocked anyway. We’ll enjoy all four bonuses from September 2 through September 9, plus get a visit from our closest neighbor dragon on September 7, so you’ll be able to prestige the page at least once. Everybody wins, except for those who just want to see the dragon they most admire. Just go for the one you want, and may the best dragon win!
We should conspire to make it a dead heat, then we should get all the bonuses.
We actually tried exactly that, @Acumen. We went with the green after getting 4 of each. But we are such a tiny group, can't fight all the americas that way xD

I was going for the Opaleye as well @Osprey1 ! Still have a few to open. Oh well. Just means we’ll have to travel down under sooner than later. 😂 ✈️
I agree @Osprey1 , much more to this game than gaining XP. Time is the biggest commodity in these games, and developers have learned how to capitalize on that. I don't blame them. If you can do it and get away with it, all power to ya. This actually reminds me of UberEats. Now that I'm retired I spend a little time making deliveries when I'm bored at four in the morning (product of working nights for 30 years). I love working for myself now and I believe there is nothing better than being of service to others, why not make buck while I'm at it. Anyhow, it always amazes me what people will pay for convenience. Convenience is another one of those cash cows the business world has learned to milk really well.
