We're excited to announce that the Harry Potter: Wizards Unite Fan Festival Global Challenge starts now!

Challenge Details

Four new types of special Portkey Portmanteaus have begun appearing worldwide. Each of these special Portmanteaus will contain a Portkey that will transport you to the Forbidden Forest where you’ll have the opportunity to collect one of four Dragon Eggs.

Throughout the weekend we’ll be tracking the number of Dragon Eggs collected, and if certain milestones are reached, players will unlock a variety of rewards starting from September 2 at 10:00 A.M. PDT to September 9 at 10 A.M. PDT. Each Dragon Egg is associated with a reward shown below, so make sure to collect Portmanteaus linked with the reward you’re most interested in earning. We’ll be posting progress updates on our social channels throughout the event, so make sure to follow along!

If you're successful, a special Day of the Dragons event will take place on September 7. During this 3-hour period, each region will be visited by a Dragon not typically found in the area. The exact type of Dragon will depend on which type of Dragon Egg was collected the most in that specific region during the Global Challenge.

Follow us on FacebookTwitter, and Instagram for the latest updates to the score.

Which reward are you most excited about?

The first to pop next to me was the Welsh Green, so that's the first I've completed. Next shall be the Opaleye (in progress), and the Vipertooth (all four ready to start) and at last the fireball.

I’m hoping the opal eggs come out on top :). Chance to open more in the bonus period.

collected 4 eggs each category using 16 silver keys. Now focus on Chinese fireball eggs only. The reward of this 1km Portmanteaus is miserable so I am not very much motivated to aggressively unlock these Portmanteaus.

My ingredients vault is busting at the seams. I'll never have to worry about hermit crab shell again.

Same here @Osprey1! Other than the occasional common item, the rewards from these 1k portkeys have been quite nice so far! I've received a generous amount of all the rare ingredients. Pretty stoked about it, because I was running low on both unicorn hair and hermit crab shells. Plus, I've leveled up my Oddities family rank four times today! Not too shabby! Cooling off at home for a bit while I let the phone charge and handle domestic duties. I'll definitely get back at it tonight though! Good luck out there!

It would be great if there was a way to check the progress in game with counters of current progress which could be updated periodically (like once every hour?).

By the looks of it, I think lots of people had the same thought process I did. Place all four images the first day, then focus on just the one you want the second day. 😁

My personal belief is that the Opaleye is the best strategically (not to mention the most gorgeous), If we can cut Portkey times in half, then that also increases XP in and of itself. It also increases ingredient collection and valuable foundable collection.

I'm doing good so far. I have 2 fragments of the 4 of the following Eggs: Chinese Fireball, Antipoddean Opaleye, and the Common Welsh Green .

Not to mention Porkey Portmanteau is full of 3 Blue (Peruvian Vipertooth) , 3 Red Portkeys (Chinese Fireball), 2 Opal Portkeys (Antipodean Opaleye)

Every time I see a Green Portkey (Common Welsh Green) I dont have a space for it, lol just my luck.

I cannot wait to collect all my egg fragments and get to the next step. I have a long night planned, Portable phone charger is ready, supplies, good walking shoes and Walking buddy (German Shepherd). We'll be heading out shortly.

    Best of luck to everyone!!

Best of luck to you too, @SaiDax! I feel you @Craeft. Opaleye is definitely the coolest, but I'm going for Green strictly because I want to be able to prestige the page at least once. May the best dragon win!

@SaiDax Hard Core! Fighting for those who can't. Much love. :-)

@Acumen Honestly, I didn't even bother considering looking at prestige page. I just love opaleye and its benefits. Hehe. There's quite a bit I've had to look at and say, "Won't be finishing that" so I've taken the "long game" approach. LoL

@Craeft Thank you as well for your nice comments. I tend to be a driven person at times, especially when its something I enjoy, and I am having fun.

I wish we had more than 48 hours. Lol.

    Good morning everyone,

I took a break this evening had to get some sleep, I could literally say I was sleep gaming lol. I collected all of the last Portmanteaus I needed before I turned in for the evening around 2345 last evening. I woke up at 2:45 AM and headed out to Trivoli Village here in Las Vegas, Nevada. Very cool shopping center that has everything basically from a Brio Tuscan grille to Shaggy Chic Dog 🐾 Salon, they also have great Art on the walls👍as well.

It helps pass the time while walking as I’m playing HPWU 🥰

    • I returned my Chinese Fireball Egg Image on 8/31/19 time not noted, located unplotted I was traveling.
    • I am proud to say at 0501 hours I collected my final piece for Common WelshGreen egg to place the image “Hoorah!” Returned: 01/09/19
    • 0503 hours came the final piece for the Peruvian Vipertooth Egg to be placed, oh yeah I’m on a roll! Returned: 01/09/19
    • 0505 hours came the final piece for the Antipodean Opaleye Egg to be placed, that is the beauty a few people have been talking about and I have it, Cha-Ching. Returned: 01/09/19

I am totally loving the ingredients I’m getting from these eggs I think I might still open a few.

Good luck every if you are still work on them during the rest of the time frame. So much fun 🥰.

HPWU you have a new diehard fan and being military veteran we give everything we do our absolute best efforts, as I know all games do. I am still learn all this but I’m having so much more fun with all the new ppl I’m meeting here. Love the camaraderie we have on this platform 💕👍. All the best to everyone. Cheers!

Well done @SaiDax! It’s fun to play the game, and sharing our successes/frustrations with other witchards definitely enhances the experience. I was up pretty late too. Wrapped things up with my son and I sitting in a Waffle House at midnight, nibbling on a waffle (of course) and sipping on coffee after a long night of game play. Time to brew some more coffee (my favorite potion) and get the day started. Now that we’ve placed all our registry images, it’s time to focus only on the egg which belongs to the dragon from another region we would most like to pay us a visit during the Day of the Dragons event on September 7! I’m rooting for the Welsh Green, because it shares the same registry page with our native dragon, the Peruvian Vipertooth. 😉

Anyone else anxiously waiting for another update? The first one showed us behind pace (6 hours in, only around 10% through), and second one was just short for being on pace (12 hours in, not quite 25% through). Hopefully Asia-Pacific was had at work the last 12 hours.

I really want the portkey and potion brewing rewards, and I feel like everyone is just sleeping on them. Like someone else mentioned, if you want Wizarding XP, Portkeys have that, and faster brewing effectively means you can grind harder fortresses for longer, meaning more WXP. Plus, those portkeys will help keep stocked to keep brewing.

More importantly though, more and tougher Fortresses means more Challenge XP and red books! I’ve finished the scroll-only skills, and now it takes soooo much **** just to get one single skill. Over 5 000 CXP just to get one of my cheaper skills now, and it’ll be more like 20 000+ CXP for the skills I really want.

We’re not going to finish those dragon pages from the Day of the Dragons anyway, so who cares which one we get? Let’s get those bonuses! Let’s grab every Opaleye and Vipertooth for the Portkey and Potion rewards!

@Acumen Yeah to breakfast places and coffee!!! I didn’t have much chance to play yesterday, just finishing 3ks this morning and filling Brilliant event page (while sipping my tasty extra dark coffee). Looking forward to quite a few dragon eggs today.

@Acumen Ty and congrats on your success as well. Me and the shepherd had our breakfast here at Trovli military style hehehe. I brought ours. Thermos and honey nuts and oats with milk for me and water bottle and bowl of food for him we did alright. But Waffle House does sound good 😊.

@HypnoTraveler Good luck you will succeed I know you will🥰👍. They are your for the taking!!

Have a great we’re still here working on locating more Foundables.

Have a blessed day everyone. Looking to hear all the updates from everyone later. 🥰

Finally have time to jump back in the forums. I’m excited with the progress we had overnight. I’m going to go try and participate in this today since I am not in the event anymore and can grab these up. I personally am going for the welsh dragon so that our area has the chance for a prestige page up

Exactly @Overflow4487! I feel like the bonus is the wrong thing to focus on. If every region cooperates and chooses the dragon that shares the registry page with their native dragon, all the bonuses will be unlocked anyway. That’s what players across the globe should be striving for. Unlock all the bonuses, then get a visit from the closest neighbor dragon during the three-hour event.

Do we have an official time when this is going to end? “This” being when the egg portkeys stop appearing on the map. Is it still at 7:00 tonight when the festival ends? About to fly in my second plane heading home and haven’t been able to grab as many as I wanted to.

@Acumen So even though we have returned our eggs already will collecting more portmanteau with certain eggs still have an effect on the Global Update on those eggs that are returned afterwards? If you don't rightfully know can someone answer this questions please.

    Thank you .

According to the event description @SaiDax the foreign dragon visiting your region on September 7 during the three-hour Day of the Dragons event will be determined by the type of dragon egg collected most in your region. 🙂

@SaiDax Day did go well after a breakfast with my son at our favorite breakfast place (thank you @Acumen for the idea). Finished Brilliants and picked up a few of each color dragon eggs for the fragments and extra opal for rewards (and the coolness of them). I’ll be hatching a few more before dawn (early riser). I’ll be quite busy with work on Sept 7, not sure if I will get much bonus period. I do like these eggs though!

Thank You for the info @Acumen .

Glad to hear things turned out well for you and your son @HypnoTraveler , I love it when a plan goes well.

Today I made the decision to focus on my favorite egg. So I searched for it, and believe me there were not a lot around for some reason. However I was able to find them ticked here and there. I was able to located 18 Chinese Fireball eggs tonight before driving home. Just returned home and two more showed up inside my home, go figure lol.

Yes, I 'm a fan of the Chinese Fireball .
