GAME UPDATE: AUGUST 21, 2019
Yet another update ( No 3 since launch ) and still no gameplay issues addressed, its starting to become really obvious that the WU Developers are not interested in gaining or keeping players even when living in a big town such as Bristol UK, if the WU Bristol Facebook Group has over 350 members and only about 6 max turn up for any of the community days surely this ought to be a wake up call to have a comprehensive redesign especially from the Social Aspect, sadly it appears they are in their own "Reality Bubble" ignoring the facts ! Talked to fair few people whether regular PokeGo players or newbies to mobile games and all feel in similar way's to general gameplay/content ! Many diehard PokeGo players deleted WU in less than a week !

On one hand there's people complaining about lack of community... and on the other hand theres complaints about https://community.harrypotterwizardsunite.com/en/discussion/2435/forced-group-play
You can't make everyone happy, I guess.
There are lots of reports of significant big fixes and improvements rolling out, but things are a little haywire at the moment because it appears as if some updates may have rolled out before intended. Perhaps there are issues with rolling back changes to Diagon Alley that shouldn't have gone live until the Fan Festival in Indianapolis while also keeping bug fixes that were intended to roll out yesterday.
None of this is confirmed yet, but unofficial reports coming in include:
Beta players finally getting past the SOS assignment they've been stuck on .
Dancing with Dummies now working as intended for Aurors.
Update to Professor's Deterioration Hex that appears to maybe be neither nerf nor buff, but sort of neutral. No longer scales with proficiency, but is also no longer negatively impacted by foe defense or dodges.
Lower increments of spell energy available in Diagon Alley for less gold.
The biggest one: Spell energy granted alongside other rewards after fortress challenge victory. This one might only be a temporary bonus that will go live during the Fan Festival, but can't say for certain yet. If it does end up being a permanent addition, this will be a major improvement to the player experience. Fingers crossed.
@SileciusGrey I respectfully disagree with this post. I have things in the game that I don’t love, like I’m sure most people do. However, the updates that have come out thus far have really improved the game for many players. I know it’s easy to complain and focus on the negatives, but in my experience it’s very obvious that Niantic and the developers are paying attention to our suggestions and implementing things that improve gameplay accordingly. Also, it’s only been out for a short time and I feel like people should temper their expectations slightly because great things are rarely perfect from the outset.
We all saw that they listened to feedback and put a spell energy indicator on the main map screen. The significant buffs to family XP across all levels is a huge thing for a lot of people, as well as the fact that they have increased spawns of more elusive Foundables. I know I personally mentioned how infrequently I see Young Ginny in a discussion on here and I really appreciate that being addressed. I also mentioned wanting the ability to buy smaller increments of energy and it appears they are putting in an option to buy 25 SE now for emergencies. They have made changes to portkeys, changed the amount of family XP to level in the last brilliant event, made exstimulo potions more effective, etc.
There are clearly even more great things in the works right now and I think we got an unintentional and premature peek at them last night. I’m choosing to be optimistic and credit them for the changes they HAVE made thus far.
Your frustrations are being heard, but it’s important to remember that real people are working on this game and I’m sure are quite passionate about delivering a great product. That being said, you can’t please everyone. So what makes me happy might not phase you. Here’s hoping that the next round of updates addresses something that is a big priority for you (though I’m not sure what those might be since your post didn’t mention any specific suggestions and was more of just a general complaint).
Absolutely agree with @Herm10neG92 (thank you for your wonderful response).
@SileciusGrey, please remember that while working on a game this big, that is --free-- might I add, doesn't just go through a group of developers, but there's a LOT of people involved in it. Sometimes one section of the team can't move forward with something because a different section has to clear things with someone else. There's investors and other companies that are involved too, and they want things done just as much as players do. In other words: there's an internal schedule of things happening that we don't get to see.
I have friends who work for game companies, and it's not fair how much falls on their heads when players are unhappy. Just look through the forum and you will see plenty of happy posts about things people have talked about, and that the admins have been slowly fixing... and even though I say slowly, in reality I mean pretty fast! This game has only JUST come out. It's been what, two months?
I understand your frustration, but as a college professor once told me, if you want something to change, try giving a clear suggestion on how such change can occur/take place. That way, when it does get resolved, you will know that something specific was done to address that which originally frustrated you :)
The recent increase in Family XP for all foundables with max fragments was a pretty significant improvement. Also, version 2.3.0 just hit the Apple app store. Not sure about Android yet. It includes a few nice updates to improve the game-play experience, like ditching the confirmation screen when you flee an encounter. Plus we'll have new Oddities! As usual, it will probably be another 24 hours or more before the new encounters are visible. I think they hold stuff like that back until they're certain the app store updates have pushed out to all markets.
@Acumen new version?!👀 thanks for heads up!
@JulieJubz Great perspective and insight into the human side of the devs! I think it’s really important to recognize that they are people too and I salute your discussion post focusing on the nice/positive things earlier. Awesome to see how much of a positive impact this game has made on people :)
Ooh fragment count during encounter! Soooo many people have asked for that! Excellent!
@Dogoutlaw YES! I’m beyond thrilled. And goodbye confirmation for fleeing. I’m sure I’ll accidentally click out of an encounter I wanted to be in at least once, but I so much prefer the speed with which you can inspect Foundables now. Thanks devs!! ❤️
@Herm10neG92 I work with art and storytelling, so I see a lot of negativity going around with things that sometimes just can't be controlled since there's sooo many internal people that must be pleased. Whenever a "bad" animated movie comes out, or book etc, I always sit back and feel horrible for the people who worked on it, because I know what a mes it is behind the scenes.
That's definitely something I try to explain to others, because man, in the end, developers are just as big of fans of the franchise they're working on as we the players are. I have so much respect for everyone ❤️
PS: I LOVE the new fragment counter too!
UPDATE TO - GAME UPDATE: AUGUST 21, 2019 ( 28 - 8 - 19 )
Sorry if this posting sounded rather negative and critical but was part in reflection due to general feedback and why lack of interest from players and without healthy critizisation things dont change when needed, do appreciate this is not a easy game to design and admittingly it is early days and HERM1ONEG92 comment along with JULIEJUBZ I can sympathise with along with the others who commented ! I have mentioned in other posts things that would in time make the game more enjoyable and encourage more players. Agree there are many positives with the game and the latest update which shows the fragment numbers of much help also WU makes a great contrast / competition to PokeGo, but a few core negatives which need addressing would make all the difference especially socially ! Below my posting on Wizards Unite Hub 26 July in response to others comments ... which views have changed slightly to a more postive since then !
Wizard Unite Hub - Quality Of Life - Comments
A very long and in-depth article the bulk of which I agree with, likewise with the comments so far, will move onto the elements not mentioned or furthered at present which significant for any decent ‘Social Activity’ and Gameplay Excitement !
(1) Friends ID photos not visible in the game seems somewhat bizarre and incomplete, would be like having your FB profile only visible to yourself ! and not being able to connect real names to Codename Numbers plus adding a separate Ministry ID adds all the more to confuse things !
(2) The Greenhouse element would have been a great way to encourage the social aspect especially among strangers/newcomers if they so wish, the community pot is a joke, only one pot with no codename/details appearing when you use it, ( at least at a PokeGo Gym you can have place 6 Pokémon showing Avatar names /levels regardless how far away ! ) should be 4 – 6 pots per Greenhouse, water as rightly said in the article not an item…. this with any logic could have been available from certain kinds of Inn’s which supply a refilling well and watering cans bought / hired from Greenhouses ….. with 5 kinds of Inn what’s the difference except maybe getting a little more spell energy…. how boring/monotonous ! Seed Packets scattered ****-nilly anywhere getting mixed-up with ingredients / traces & portkeys makes a messy map and hinders game engagement, some people lucky to have excess of virtually everything right outside their front door as myself, others virtually nothing if in a the country or nondescript side-street !
(3) There needs to be a journal of ones activities / achievements on ones ID Profile page along with the games developing plot as you reach higher levels not just reading little snippets not accessible after reading unless you keep taking screen shots to keep track of the story making it very tedious,
(4) Brilliant Foundables should have been magical items like ‘Cloak of Invisibility / Nimbus2000 for
example usable at higher levels in the game instead of psychedelic versions of normal "Foundables",
a rainbow coloured Harry Potter seems just weird and pointless.
(4) At the beginning you can fuss for ages on Wand Type- Wood, Core, Length all a pretty pointless exercise as it make makes no difference, likewise with House’s, if you could have use of three types of wand at your disposable would make gameplay more interesting than just the choice of the one spell traced and a potion….. and really does one need 30 odd types of wood to choose from ?
Anyway to round this reply off lest become more over long….
WILL SAY THIS 🙂 – GAME HAS GREAT POTENTIAL, AS OF YET FAR FROM ACHEIVED EVEN THOUGH GREAT GRAPHICS / MUSIC / MUCH INNOVATIVE CONTENT LIKE PORTKEY’S ETC ….. SADLY AT LEAST A THIRD OF
ALL OF THIS INCLUDING WHAT I’VE WRITTEN COULD HAVE BEEN ADDRESSED AFTER THE BETA TESTING AND LAST UPDATE 2.1.0. !!
HOPEFULLY THE WU DEVELOPERS ARE LISTENING AND TAKING NOTE FROM PLAYERS ESPECIALLY AFTER A POOR LAUNCH AND COM DAY AND SOME SERIOUS UPDATES IMPLEMENTED WITHIN THE NEXT FEW MONTHS OTHERWISE THIS GAME WILL FADE AWAY, LEAVING PokemonGo THE ALL AND EVERYTHING.
