Forced group play
PLLEAAASE get rid of the forced group play. I like getting out on my own to play a bit of this game. I don’t want to have one of the SOS tasks force me to group up to move forward on the main storyline. I’d much rather be able to progress just playing on my own which is much more enjoyable for me. I think you’re going to lose more players doing this than you’re going to gain. Because I’m not going to go beg my friends or family to play, and this will probably cause me to stop playing soon if it doesn’t change.

I second this. No one I know play and I haven’t met any players. I’m an introvert and I’m not sure I even want to meet strangers for a game. (To anyone who was gonna suggest discord or other such places to find people to play with)
I'll third this. I hate group play in person. You end up wasting si kuch time organising and waiting.
I solo Pogo and only meet anyone for ex raids.
I took this screenshot from Niantic:
Oops, my link didn't work. It says that 47% of people are motivated to connect with others.
So even 53% of Pogo players don't want group play. This game is more likely to entice introverted players so allow us to play all aspects of the game solo.
I would be in agreeance with "remote" fortresses where you could each be at different fortresses.
Our last community day I went into the city which is difficult enough for me, had to go to a huge noisy mall, meet others and do fortresses together.
I suffer from PTSD which has me unable to ever work again as well as some physical limitations. I suffer from pretty extreme social anxiety.
It took me a week to recover after the CD.
Even better than my suggestion of remote fortresses, maybe open it up like Pogo with PvP, completely remote if you're ultra. Let's fortress in groups from home!!
@WerewolfChaser This 🙌🏼 Here is a perfect example of why forced grouping is an awful idea. I’m so sorry to hear that last CD took so much out of you and can’t imagine what that experience was like. In no way trying to conflate your experiences with my own, but my therapist recently explained to me that I exhibit symptoms of PTSD as well. I didn’t even think of it until just now seeing your post, but this kinda explains for me why I may have subconsciously avoided Community Day altogether. I didn’t participate in either of them so far (though the first one actually sounded decent) and if they are going to remain focused on grouping I don’t have any interest. The free gift was nice though!
I was really upset to see that they forced it on us in a way that would halt gameplay progression through the SOS tasks. I have been BEGGING my husband and brother to come play with me in a few wizarding challenges just to get me through the task, but after hearing reports it’s bugged I’ve been hesitant to actually have them go with me for fear it won’t even count.
Really hope they reconsider this aspect because it is a huge disappointment for many players who prefer solo play for a variety of legitimate reasons.
I totally agree with all arguments mentioned above. Don't force ppl to team up.
Agreed!!;;
If WU had the tools to enable players to connect ie a comm tool as Ingress has then I would understand the logic behind group events
Paradoxically more challenge points are awarded for multiple players in the same tower session yet we can’t communicate with other players in-game to arrange meets
Alternatively, WU is predicated on urban environments without consideration for sparsely populated areas effectively precluding solo players outside of high density areas
I am not complaining simply trying to understand the rationale behind forcing group interaction
I would like the option to skip group SOS tasks please, make them optional. As it happens, I am stuck on the Complete 3 Wizarding Challenges SOS due to the since fixed bug - haven’t found 2 other players since
adding my support here to the comments posted above, BUT if the @HPWUTeam actually cared about our concerns/complaints here, they already would have changed things to eliminate game aspects penalizing solo play vis-a-vis group play.
on the contrary, they have double-downed on their pro-group-play bias ... as evidenced by the nov 2017 community day structure, and even meaninglessly requiring us to add random “friends” to advance in brilliant week 1 AND week 2 tasks.
hate to break it to you, @HPWUTeam , but just because i exchange a code with persons on the same forum here, that exchange does not make those persons my real FRIENDS, or make me theirs. and i do not appreciate having to “add a friend” at the point of a bayonet. (ie, do you want your 14 or 15 green spell books, or not? yes? then bark like a dog! woof woof woof. then add random strangers as your “friends”! done x30 and counting.)
@kiheikid You forgot "make people install our game and play it so you can add them as friends".
Considering the latest (local) reviews on the Play Store, even with the HP brand they may have trouble finding new players.
@DubiousAffairs
haha, our kids are adults and they just said no
I agree on nixing the group play. I belong to a decent local POGO community but only two that I know of play HP and we got together only once- but we weren't friends yet so that made a mess of things. Haven't seen them since. Now my work hours are odd so I hardly see anyone. I am also stuck on that task that wants you to play with three teammates. I play a game to relieve stress, I don't want one that adds to it. I still love solitaire and that is FREE, no need to buy port keys.
I agree I can get my self and sometimes my wife at same time but that's only 2 need 3 for SOS requirements they need remove this blocker
