What happens when you reach level 60?
Not that I’m anywhere near that level, but does the game end for you at that point? Or will they expand it?

Today I reached level 60. Besides a new title 'Advance Guard' it didn't unlock anything new. The xp counters have been replaced by static text 'XP MAX LEVEL!'. Unfortunately I didn't get the big level up screen this time, but I might clicked it away myself or it's bugged.
So... time to max the new trees and get my last Registry pages on gold.
My understanding is that you can still play the game as normal, but you just don't collect more xp. Some players are suggesting an "endgame" solution where the game continues to track your stats beyond Level 60.
I reached level 60 tonight. Very anticlimactic. When I hit 1,500,000 xp my game just said error and reset. I didn’t realize I had hit level 60 until I saw that my score now said “xp max level”. I don’t know if there is anything to work towards. Maybe I’m just supposed to quit.
no error for me yesterday.
I reached Level 60 yesterday. I only need a few more Wizarding Challenge traces to prestige the last four of my registry pages to gold, so I'll keep playing to get that done. I've thought about finishing my SOS skill tree, but is there anything I could gain that would even matter going forward? I have a 25,295 SOS Task Force Appraisal and stacks of books waiting to be used, but the only thing I see that looks worth working towards is eventually receiving gold from trunks. And why would I need gold anymore? There's probably a reason I would; I just haven't thought of it yet. Does anyone know?
All I know for certain at this point is that I'm not spending another cent on this game. As much fun as Wizards Unite has been, it has also been insulting at times. Lots of times. It doesn't take a **** surgeon to see that progress is sometimes deliberately thwarted. Whether it's uncatchable traces that eat spell energy, nerfs that slow things down, or timed events that warrant more energy or ingredients than one could possibly keep on hand, so much of this game overtly steers players towards Gringotts. This has obviously worked for Niantic's bottom line, and that's OK. I'm a business owner myself, so I am aware that's the goal. I just know I've often felt as a HPWI player that Niantic must think they're dealing with a bunch of idiots who won't notice what's happening.. I never felt that way back when I was working towards Level 40 in Pokemon Go. Still don't. And I still play.

I'm saving this for last because it concerns this very site and it's nothing but a rant. I dislike rants and ranters, but I feel this needs to be said, because I think it's part of why I don't feel compelled to keep playing now that I've reached Level 60. Read it or don't read it; here's my two galleons:
I feel that Niantic does a poor job of communicating to Wizards Unite players. We should be kept in the loop when there's something wrong in the game. We should know when they're actively trying to fix something AND when/if they do get it fixed--or even that they've decided not to fix it, as was the case with the Trace Charm issue-that-wasn’t-actually-an-issue. And while Niantic may already be doing all of those things, not everybody can find it. They need to make that information easily accessible and understandable to all levels of players. The list of Known Issues on the app itself is helpful, but someone needs to keep it up to date in real time, even if it's only to direct the user to the right discussion page on this site. To that end, this site needs a landing page for that sort of what's-happening-right-now information. It's great that a support site exists, but being directed over and over again, no matter which combination of words you use to search, to a plug for whatever event is going on at the time--that is beyond frustrating. It's usually something within that event that's causing me trouble in the first place, which only makes it worse. Also, and this is difficult for a not-so-young woman to admit, but I know I can't be the only person who's been hesitant to ask a question for fear of being mocked. I've seen so many people on this site who are chastised for asking a question that has already been asked, or for asking a question in the wrong place. If everyone wants players to use this site correctly, then someone needs to make it easier to use. Give some instructions that aren't vague. I understand that you want players to first search to find out if someone has already started a discussion about a particular topic, but your search tool should actually direct players to relevant information about the problem instead of general information about the game. I sometimes get there eventually, but there have been many times I've simply given up because I can't find what I'm looking for, or because whatever information I do eventually find is vague and not up-to-date.
OK, rant over. Unfortunately, the reality of my situation may be that it's time for me to get a life. And daaaaang, what a bummer that is.
@TheSaneOne I want you to know I 100% agree with absolutely everything you wrote. I had a rant last weekend on here too so I know where you are coming from.
As for the last part about asking questions - there are certain posters on this site that somehow feel like they are in charge of moderating and certainly do chastise others for posting duplicate threads or questions. Which I personally think is ridiculous because so many of the questions that are new are by people who have never posted in this forum before so they don’t really understand how to use the forum. Then this person will come along and tell them to search for that topic and chastise them for asking a question. Seriously?? The way I look at it is more veteran in players and posters need to be helping people who are new to the forum/game.
I hit level 53 today and haven’t been playing all that much quite honestly as I just don’t have the desire to play much anymore. The issue with the trace plume colors being off has certainly affected my wanting to play. The amount of spell energy I go through to capture what used to be a low level trace which is not high/very high is absurd and of course complete radio silence from Niantic on when or if it will be fixed. Which to me is so sad. This game has brought me so much joy and I adored it at one point. But with the weekly crashes, bugs, nerfs, or bait and switches I just don’t enjoy it at all anymore. Ok maybe a little bit. I feel for the people that work for HPWU that are stuck in the middle of the devs and players. (Lola). But when I think about how fun and exciting the game was this time last year and how much the game had going for it it does make me sad quite honestly not to mention the fact that the game is almost over for me is so much worse too. I do sincerely hope they can salvage the game and do right by the loyal players/customers.
I got an error message also and never saw the le el up page.
I also got an error message and didn't really get to celebrate completing such a major goal.
Someone suggested taking every page not just to gold but also to every item starred, I guess I'm working on that, slowly, not the fortress pages, just the families. The ribbon colour problem is very offputting. The ridiculous number of DADA books I need to get anywhere further on the SOS tree is off putting. I'll keep trying to do at least the minimum each day and the minimum on each event to get the rewards.
Speaking of ridiculous, I've actually gone back to Pokemon Go, and have over a year's PoGO knowledge and skills to somehow catch up on, but at least I'm no longer bored of it.
Was a hard job for me since first day game but im game over now:
Im just playing for complete the BE since this month.
PS. And i collected 7.000 fragments one more time because a may 2020 bug. Like a Niantic said: MOVE ON EVERYONE!
you get bored b/c you have nothing left to do, uninstall the game and move on. :P
