Something nice!
Hey guys! I feel like there's a bit too much negativity in the world right now, so I figured I would try to spread some positivity! Tell me something wonderful that has happened to you, because you're playing WU! It can me something small, or something big. It can even be more than one thing :)
I'll go first: Because of WU, I've found a small wonderful community that I can be a part of, both in person, and in forum (ahem, thank you all for being so wonderful) ⭐️
PS: Sorry if I posted this to the wrong part of the forum... 😅

Great idea @JulieJubz !
For me: We've formed a small group at work for the folks that play and it's given us the opportunity to hang out and spend time with each other and get to learn about what they do at our company, etc. on top of helping each other out with the game. We organize group challenges weekly and I don't think I'd ever have found this much fun in the game if we didn't do that together! :)
The trip to Indianapolis will be my first time traveling alone. I’m really excited to jump this hurdle, because traveling alone feels weird to me. However, with so many cool people to meet and hang out with when I get there, I’m glad I went ahead and made the jump to do it. :)
I appreciate you too, @JulieJubz. I made a new friend in my apartment building when it became apparent to each of us that we both play (we'd spot each other around the neighborhood, frantically swiping our phones). The best thing though is my son and I occasionally go on walkabouts together since he plays PoGo and all the best spots in town are the same for both of us. We're already very close. We hang out and do stuff all the time, but this just gives us one more thing we can enjoy together.
Great Idea! I'm getting hooked on this community. There have been a lot of great posts and it's been fun getting to know you all. So being a part of this community is a pleasant surprise and now a part of my daily routine as much as playing Wizard's Unite.
@JulieJubz The negativity has always been there and will always be. Yet so will the positivity; and where we chose to put our focus in this world of contrast determines what kind of life we live, one of joy, or not. Don't mean to get all philosophical on you, that part of me slips out every now and again 🤷♂️; but I'm all for pure positive energy. Keep it coming and thank you for this post. Refreshing.
After going out and playing Ingress and PoGo by myself (with others) I finally get to play a game with my wife.
She is the real HP fan in the house and loves the game so it is something we enjoy doing together.
I noticed the family XP has been boosted tonight which will help with scrolls and runes. It does seem that they’re trying to fix problems.
Just not Dances With Dummies. It’s still broken. That and the high resistance/departure rates and spell energy are the frustrating parts.
These are all easily fixed by Niantic, should they choose to fix them. It’s a pretty good game. Could be as good as Pokemon Go with some tweaks and fixes.
Love this thread! I never played PokémonGo despite loving the franchise growing up. But I’m SO GLAD I found HPWU and I have loved the progress I’ve seen through the updates we have already. Like the Young Ginny detail announced in the update today- I know I mentioned that to someone else on here and it seems that we were heard. I really appreciate when feedback is used to create meaningful changes. Thank you mods and thank you Niantic for giving us this forum, where we have been able to build a great community in such a short time!
For me personally, this game has been enormously helpful to my well being. I’m currently on break from grad school and during these short breaks I typically tend to stay indoors, veg out on the couch, sleep in to make up for the sleep deprivation, among other bad habits. But since I have HPWU, I have spent this break exercising and getting some much needed Vitamin D. I’ve truly enjoyed this break and had a lot of fun when I was playing. It’s a really positive thing for me and has improved my mental state a great deal. Playing is becoming almost like a daily form of meditation for me. So thankful to have this outlet and that I’m able to let out my inner HP nerd again 🤓
@Babybobscuba Oh man, that sounds absolutely amazing! If I didn't work alone from home, I would absolutely love to have a work setup like that.
@Overflow4487 small warning... once you start traveling like that, you'll never want to stop! Take it from me, it's totally daunting to do, but the freedom is amazing. I hope you have a wonderful time ❤️ best of luck and let us know how it goes!!
@Acumen yours actually made me "awww" out loud. I absolutely love that. I'm glad you not only made a new game friend, but having that extra something with your son. Just, so nice 💞
@ZookiTabooki it's exactly why I wanted to do this post! The good comes with the bad, and I definitely don't blame anyone for complaining about certain things. The forum really is a wonderful place to get that help we need, especially when we get really frustrated! BUT... it's also super nice to take a break and just think about how much good we see that we might not comment on, because it feels like it's small. So here's to the small things! :D
@Osprey1 Yess!!! If I ever manage to find a SO, I really hope we play games together like that.
@Herm10neG92 oh, I totally had not heard about the Young Ginny thing! That's so funny because my playing group was JUST talking about that this morning! I totally agree, the team has been wonderful in listening to us. Also: Get. That. Vitamin. D! I'm totally on the same boat, it's been nice getting out of the house once a day even if it's just to complete the daily stuff! Has done wonders for me.
Ok I'm gonna go again and add something else. Specific to this forum: I'm thankful for @AuroraKadavra tagging me in things, haha! It's always a pleasant surprise, especially when I sometimes forget where I commented, and where we had a specific conversation going 😋
@Overflow4487 I've never done personal travel alone, just lots of work related travel. I'm excited for you, and can't wait to start doing the same thing! There are several vacations I look back on that I took with friends or family and I think to myself, "Man, I probably would have had a LOT more fun by myself, being able to just do the things I wanted to do."
@JulieJubz I agree it always makes me smile the way @AuroraKadavra makes sure everyone is included in the conversation. It's quite thoughtful. And yes, very helpful, because there are so many categories and threads to keep track of that I'm lost half the time, though that's no different from my general state of being while at work, at a restaurant, at home, or in any other aspect of my life. I should probably just start introducing myself that way. "Hi, my name is Richard and I'm lost."
Awww omg thank you so much for tagging me in this @JulieJubz ! This is the best thread ever!!
I feel like a group of us who regularly comment & come on here each day have formed our own little WU family lol. And i can't tell you how much it means to have you guys to chat to and share things with about the game as friends/family arent into it (still working on hubby- hes gotta crack eventually!) Lol.
WU has actually changed my life! Im off on long term sick with ptsd, so have always found a focus in my art etc, but this game has got me going outside for walks twice a day! Like @Herm10neG92 says its so beneficial to our wellbeing, so thats no small thing.
Then coming on here to share is another highlight for me, so many of the comments have made me laugh so much, which means that my day is now filled with a huge amount of positivity that it didnt have before this game!
Thanks to all you guys @JulieJubz @Acumen @Overflow4487 @Craeft @Herm10neG92 @WerewolfChaser @Dogoutlaw @ZookiTabooki @LeFayeofAlbion @Osprey1 @MikeHughJass @SamuelHaight @Glimmermir @Digitalis @Ginnungagap who have all shared tips, made me smile/laugh out loud, and made me feel part of a wonderful community!
@AuroraKadavra thank you so much for tagging me and for the very kind words about the HPWU group members. 😊
@JulieJubz thank you for starting this thread. I really needed it, today.
My husband died 8 years ago, by suicide. I found him. Since his death I've got a great case of PTSD and social anxiety. On top of my narcolepsy and hand-me-down depression, things are difficult most days. Ingress really helped get me out. I started while it was still in Beta, so I was there through SO MAN issues and bugs that made you want to throw your phone across the park. LOL It was terrifying, but I pushed and found a great community that always included me, even when I just couldn't leave the house.
I didn't find the same type of community with PoGo. Oh well, can't win em all.
While I haven't gotten the same with WU yet, I got something equally as good; the amazing people here. You all are always available with tips and advice, encouragement, creativity and surprise.
I read some of the negative things others say here and I yell at my phone, "But look at all the amazing art, the great storyline, the mystery, all the activities!!" I rarely respond to those posts unless I can figure out how to respond in a constructive and encouraging way.
Sorry for this reply getting all depressing and long. 😁

Thank you for sharing your story @SamuelHaight. You're a good human. Keep on keepin' on. 🙂
@SamuelHaight Thank you for sharing. I'm glad you're here with us! 🤗
The fact that I was tagged in this made the biggest smile bloom on my face. And I needed it today. Thank you all!
@SamuelHaight ive just seen this as came back to post something. My heart goes out to you on what must be such a daily struggle. Ptsd is so debilitating & ive found that u guys here just cheer me up & even if ive not been up to real world socialising that day, ive chatted a bit on here & shared my love of this game & the positivity it brings me. Keep fighting the good fight & i hope this forum & game continues to bring you a sense of happiness.
@LeFayeofAlbion you too, keep fighting, i know its exhausting, today i did my fortress while daughter at appt. Then im back under blanky on couch in a couple of days now anxiety attack. No way id have been leave the house today, but come 7pm il b out there for the brilliant event starting, even for a short while. So my love of Harry Potter is saving me as an adult like Enid Blyton books saved me as a child lol. I've just realisd that sounds really sad for someone in late 40s lol 😂 hey ****.
So the positive i wanted to add- i mentioned in a previous thread how was try work on hubby to get him come pottering with me- its finally happened!! He tried install on his s7, wouldnt load, update buggy, but his phone **** too. So his s10 arrives today & we're out tonight! Yay! Huge progress & again life changing. More time 4 us together!
My youngest has also loved playing for me thru the summer hols- the game can even bypass moody teen mode! 😂
So this comment is on behalf of my husband. He's been asking me to say this for a couple of weeks, and while this is slightly morbid and maybe not quite what was being asked for, I think this is the best thread for it. Hubby started playing HPWU end of July, started slow but steadily became more obsessed with it. On Aug 18, he lost his mom. While not completely unexpected, it did come as a blow as you can imagine. This game served as a much needed distraction for the following few weeks. When I'd get home from work, he'd ask me to go out and play, and we'd spend 2-3 hours each evening. It would make him smile and have some fun for just a little while; it was an escape so he could take his mind off of things. He's often said it was a huge help having this game as a distraction since we wasn't working last month, and wanted me to express that here on the forums. So in case the developers/admins see this, he says thank you. <3
@Dogoutlaw Thank you so much for sharing. Please know our hearts go out to you, your husband and family. I often find gaming on my phone a much needed distraction at times, and I'm glad your husband is discovering the same during this difficult time. Hugs!
Thanks @ZookiTabooki !
@JulieJubz Thank you for this thread! Mindful positivity! I understand the need to grip or vent about frustrations, but I will choice not to get pulled in to someone else junk. Constructive feedback and bug reporting can make the game we love better and we can do that in a nice way.
This thread made me think more about the HP community and what I like about the game. When i have been frustrated I read through posts. Great tips from so many players it would be hard to list them all. Most are in this tread thought so THANK YOU! It's a game for fun and remember to enjoy the journey of playing and not rushing to the end as fast as possible.
First it got this couch potato up walking and riding my bike. My favorite thing is going out with my middle schooler. He plays POGO -I wizard, we walk or bike, and talk! What a treasure to keep a teen talking to his mom. This game is a great addition to the Potterverse. Seeing favorite characters and creatures makes me smile. HPWU give me a safe and entertaining distraction.
This community is funny, creative and imaginative! Thank you making me smile, laugh and think. I work in the Mall of America, huge area-1 mile per floor 3 floors. 3 Fortress, 12 greenhouse and I have no idea how many inns. (lots) I check to see what the greenhouses are growing, when it is "ripe" and what greenhouses need to be planted. On the way out today in a very Fred and George inspired prank a wizard/witch planted all the greenhouses with ginger! When I see other wizards/witches playing and they don't see me it's fun to add dark detectors to the nearby Inns. Random acts for wizard kindness.
@Dogoutlaw and @SamuelHaight Thank you for sharing. May you continue to find joy and comfort in the game and our community.
That is such a lovely share @Owlx , I too have found a fun way to connect with my teen through this game-and it really is no small thing. So happy it's brought positivity to your life like so many of us on here, some really struggling with various things, are finding the distraction a goodsend.
So sorry to hear of your terribly tough time you must both be going through @Dogoutlaw . And all the while you have still been on here, always offering great advice & encouraging others which is testament to your strength I think & the upmost respect & thanks is due for that. Hope that the game continues to comfort you both somewhat, even as pure distraction at times & your presence in the forum is always very much appreciated- just in case I've not told you that before. Sending best wishes & hugs your way.
Oh my gosh! There's some responses here that I had not seen before! I'm so sorry.
I absolutely love reading everything everyone has to say. I will totally catch up with it this week. I've been a little scattered brained lately... I stopped eating meat almost entirely (cold turkey) and my energy has plummeted (probably an iron deficiency, lol).
But I shall muster some energy because I love you guys and totally want to catch up on everything, both good news and sad news and ok news and such ❤️ But it makes me so happy that this thread is alive again!
I'm quite new to this forum, but I've enjoyed playing the game every day.
I have been so happy to make wizarding friends! I'm part of a wonderful group of players that get together every week to play. I have Meniere's Disease -- lots of inner ear/ balance problems -- and my wizarding friends totally hold on to me and keep me standing up straight when my balance isn't the best. I also love the exercise I get playing.
I've been lurking here for a while and it's nice getting to know you all.
Play on!
@NursePoppy Hi, welcome. Sounds like you have a great "supportive" group of friends. Know you have us here too.
Thanks, OWLX (too new to link yet).
This is a great forum with lots of goodwill.
Because of WU as well as their promotional trailers, it inspired my passion for filmmaking to make this fun little mockumentary about “Life as a Wizard YouTuber” on my channel @ AndyTranFilms
Youtube /watch?v=aCt2HAK4AQQ
@AndyTran Loved it! and I really like your potions! 😉Best of luck with your channel.
