    @ImmortalGoddess Each time you do a Fortress, including solo, you are casting strategic spells on the foes. Wow, just noticed that the achievement for 3000 strategic spells cast is 15 Red Books! Thanks for bringing it up.

    The spell depends on your profession, but while in a Fortress Challenge, you just drag the spell over your player icon at the top before you engage a foe. Every profession has one strategic spell that costs zero focus and has a 6 second cool down, meaning you can spam it over and over. This is handy for reaching the strategic spell achievements. Depending on your level and current stats, you'll have plenty of time left at the end of a challenge up to a certain chamber level. Before engaging the last foe, you can spam your strategic spell on yourself until you have just enough time left to defeat the remaining foe.

    During wizarding challenges. Every profession has those lessons that are squares, depending on your profession you can use those on either yourself, other players, or on the foes. just place your finger on them and swipe them to where you want to put them. If you want know what each one is, tap on them and a little notification box will appear over it with the info. I'm a magizoologist so I just heal myself and use my quick stamina one . Also keep in mind that if you can use these the things you can use it one will stay lite up while the things you can't put it on will go dark. I hope that helps and doesn't confuse you. If you would like more information check out wizards news, poke fodder, the sylph, and pocemon on you tube. This is how I learn about things. :)

    @HypnoTraveler I don't think it's working for me. I am still at 0 and I have been in Fortesses lots of times. I am Auror if it matters.

    @Acumen and @Princesssc00ter thank you

    @ImmortalGoddess I believe Auror has Bat Bogey hex that costs 0 Focus. There are the other hexes (Confusion, Weakening) all help toward strategic spells cast I’m assuming.

    @ImmortalGoddess I didn't get it at first either. But, here's something to look out for: Some spells work on you, and some work on foes while others work in group settings. I'm a professor, so I'm not sure what the Auror ones are...

    But click on the spell you want, and drag it over your own icon all the way on the top. If that doesn't do anything, try dragging the same spell over the foe. The spell will fix itself to one of those two.

    In professors, we have a healing one that LOOKS as if it's not doing anything. But when you drag it onto your own icon, it starts a little 5 second countdown where the spell icon shows up... so that's one way to know it's working. Maybe Auror ones are like that too?

    So for that casting strategic spells, I go into chamber 3 (the 3rd on down) and I use the quick one, go defeat the first one, do all others I can place and then the quick one and defeat the second one, repeat what I did after the first one, go battle the third one but only hit them once and let them hit me then runaway. repeat what I have been doing and then continue to use my quick stamina, I do go finish my last battle at 20 seconds ( you may need to do yours differently since your a auror) I usually have just under 4 minutes to just do my quick spell casts and get about 30 in. But now you have a general idea on what to do. I've been working on mine.

    Can you use more than one strategic spell on the same foe?

    @Atheena if they are different spells, then yes. One foe can have the deterioration, confusion, and weakening hexes at the same time. As well as repeated bat bogey. But if you're asking if you can cast deterioration twice on the same foe, then no.

    @ImmortalGoddess

    As an Auror we don't have a spell we can use on ourselves. We have our hexes we can use on foes.

    Bat-bogey hex is our "free" six second hex that even if you are out of focus, you can drop on a foe. The other two "cost" focus points. So even if you go into ruins one and only fight two foes you can (in theory, if you have all your hexes active) gain a simple six strategic casts from that lowest round.

    This is the simplest way to check and make sure that those spells are counting. Place them before going into the battle with the foe, ie drag and drop on the foes image, go fight and then check your achievement bar once out of the fortress.

    If you aren't getting counted for placing your hexes on foes then it is best to report it as a bug in game and here.

    Also an easy way is the green spell boxes are to use on yourself or team mates orange spell boxes move to foes.
