Option to make the map view brighter???

On one hand, I recognise why Niantic designed the overview map to be darker than the overview map in Pokemon Go. It's Harry Potter, it takes place in Great Britain. Great Britain is dreary. It's atmospheric!
A side effect of this though is I'm having to turn up the brightness of my screen MUCH more than if I were playing Pokemon Go. This is a game that already drains battery (and eats data, even pre-downloading assets, but that's another issue altogether). I don't want to be forced to turn my phone to full brightness just in hopes of seeing my screen in summertime full sun, when on any other app that would honestly be too bright.
Please, please, please give an option to adjust the shade of our maps to something less dark.
