Facebook Outage

Personally, I am not connected with a Facebook account, but I’m curious about if there is some sort of backup system for all of the players connected through Facebook? I have a friend who is a level 51 and cannot access the game. Will she lose all of her progress? Will the current event be extended to allow makeup time for anyone unable to start it? Just curious about everyone’s thoughts on the current situation.

I was affected by the outage and couldn't log in. This isn't a "Facebook" game although we can use our accounts to log in. Any game progress before the outage is stored on Niantic's servers and is fine; I just got logged back in and haven't lost anything. The Brilliant Event has started, though.

@Kiyone57 I know it’s not a Facebook game. I just meant if the outage lasted longer, what was Niantic going to do so that Facebook linked players could get logged back in and keep their progress.

Looks like facebook is maintance. I check other game cannot login for this time, so wait and sit down for maintance complete.

I just saw a convo on Discord saying LOG OUT and then delete the FB app (assuming you use it) on all devices. Then reload app and try logging back in. I’m not on FB so I can’t speak from experience, but that’s the convo I’m seeing, and I’m seeing that it’s working for people who’ve “tried everything else”.
