The Knight Bus
I dedicate this post to our friend @Craeft ,
Recently there was a thread about accessibility issues and how we can improve the game to make it more accessible for everyone. Although I believe that local solutions by local players were likely to be the best approach, I've been thinking about how cool it would be to implement The Knight Bus into our gameplay.
I imagine seeing the Knight Bus racing up and down main arteries on the map, taking Wizards from point to point locations. For example;
- Create a mechanic that allows us to purchase a ticket on the Knight Bus. I'm sure Stan and Ernie would be thrilled to provide this service. A ticket could maybe take a player from their current location to any Inn/Greenhouse/Fortress within a certain range.
- Perhaps a 30 or 60 minute timer allowing players to spend time at the new location until either our time expires or we choose to return early; and we are returned to our current location via the Knight Bus. Tickets can be purchased with Gold.
You can see where I am going with this. A feature such as this can be restricted to prevent abuse and yet provide an option for those of us who have accessibility issues that limit our ability to travel great distances. This also may provide an option for rural players who undoubtedly suffer the most with the least amount of access.
Please consider.

That would be soooo cool!
y'all can stop throwing us extremely rural players up as an excuse to take away the effort level of the game.
my barely incorporated town has less then 200 people in it, less then 5 inns, and i am probably a higher level then you - whoever you are reading this.
we are fine, thanks, and its insulting to think that we are helpless and hopeless out here.
please stop claiming rural players as your justification for anything unless you are yourself a rural player.
thanks.

@ZookiTabooki am not singling you out personally or specifically, just this was the post where finally said it. please dont take it as saying to you in particular, is to everyone.
No offence taken. I'm glad to provide an opportunity for you to express your thoughts. In fact, I applaud your perspective on the subject as it's not a common one being expressed on the forum. Clearly you are someone who can make the most with the least and I respect that immensely. Be aware I wasn't addressing extremely rural players and I kinda threw that in there to bolster my case with the Knight Bus; but that showed me how sensitive you are to the issue so I'll give you my perspective.
I am spoiled. I live in a highly populated area so my neighbourhood is saturated with Greenhouses, Inns and Fortresses. It has allowed me to build on my gameplay at a nice clip. But when I drive out to the 'burbs', I am astonished at the lack of representation. Seriously, I can't imagine how people are playing this game outside of a downtown, metropolitan city when everything is spread out so far apart.
When I travel to outlying towns that surround my city, I find that although there aren't many greenhouses/inns and fortresses, what is available isn't spread out over tens of miles. Small town means most of what is available is closer together and imho, easier to manage. So, my perspective isn't so much that rural players are lacking assets, but that everyone living outside the downtown core of a city could definitely benefit from an increase, regardless of where you are. I do support your stance because I can relate but honestly, I believe most of the complaints I hear about are somewhat warranted.
@Digitalis A great many rural players are reporting it as an issue, though, as well as players with limited mobility. Just because you have the resources to work around an issue does not mean all the other rural players and players with limited mobility are just not trying hard enough.
