If you had the chance to change profession with all items returned would you?

I have calculated how much challenge XP is required for each profession.

Professor

  • 298,165 challenge xp
  • 223 green books
  • 320 red books

Auror

  • 531,905 challenge xp
  • 115 green books
  • 445 red books

Magizoologist

  • 569,605 challenge xp
  • 115 green books
  • 465 red books

If you're interested in the calculations or to work out how much you need here's the link

I’m a professor and so far, I’m happy with my choice. I didn’t even read about them when choosing... I was debating between aurur (because Harry Potter!) and prof. Decided I’m more a nerd than fighter😂😂 Now knowing what I know, happy I went that way. Your calcs are daunting tho!!😳 Hubby is magi (because he likes critters😂😂😂🤷🏼‍♀️) and that’s a lot! He may never complete the lesson plan, but since he’s not as hard core as I am, probably ok.

@Dogoutlaw You do need so many more green books. I've trained to level 12 auror and I've calculated that if I switch to professor now I'll still need less challenge xp.

I knew the figures would be high but I was shocked when I saw the vast difference between professions.

I didn't even feel motivated yesterday to leave the house to complete my dailies. Not here or Pogo. That's a first for me!

I think I need a few days break while I consider what to do.

I'd probably keep what I got and just start a new profession. But I've been pretty "anti-respec" in all multi-player games.

Thanks a lot on the calculation of total challenge xp needed.

As for the battles needed, there is more challenge xp gained for each wiz challenge done than what you used for calculation. E.g. Dark 1 gives 35+104 = 139 instead of just 104 from runestone 1 base xp.

Like @Dogoutlaw I chose professor without even knowing what choosing that really even meant. I figured people may originally become an Auror (looking at you Harry Potter) or a magizoologist (hey there Newt Scamander) so I thought professor might be a less popular choice, so a good one to grab. Plus, I pictured myself teaching at Hogwarts and got all giddy.

Now that I have been playing and know a lot kore about the differences...I think I would have made the same decision. This class is the one I normally like to play (dps in World of Warcraft - of course I was a mage). I like to have a few hard hitting spells, but I like to sit back a little bit and have some protective magic as well. So surprisingly, I think this fits my personality way better than Magizoologist and Auror.

The only thing I was disappointed in...was to find out it was NOT the least popular class and the whole reason I originally chose it was not true, haha!!
