Why can't I find anything. Is it because I'm in the country?

Rural Areas are often not well enough prepared for the game.

The reason for that is very simple: all "buildings" in the game (namely Inns, Greenhouses, Fortresses) have been added to the game manually. They have been suggested by Players of Niantic's other games, Ingress and Pokemon Go. That means that cities - areas where the chance for active ingress- and PoGO-Players are higher - have more "ingame buildings" than rural areas.

If you want further information, feel free to reach out again. Also, if you want a general hint where you might find things in your area, point me vaguely into what area you're looking at.

@Gravedigger47 theres the feedback section on here too where you could add your voice to others im sure that live in rural areas must be struggling with the same thing.

Recently the game has started spawning a few confoundables that i can access when sat in the house, the first weeks i found that i had to go out on the street before any would show. So i sometimes just turn the game off & on again a few times in the morn to get my 10 for daily task. Problem with that though is you need to access an inn at somepoint lol to recharge energy.

But I'd definitely highlight the issue and perhaps they will start more confoundables spawning in rural areas & maybe add some inns using an algorithm that accounts for kilometres between nearest inn & greenhouse etc, so even if it's floating in a field near the road u can access it as you pass.

Hope it improves for you cos its an amazing game if u live in a town 😊

@AuroraKadavra that's a cool idea to generate inns, greenhouses, and fortresses in rural areas on the map automatically based on distance from others instead of manually through user submissions. I imagine there would be some snags to work through in order to prevent generating any on private property, or areas that are otherwise restricted or just flat out dangerous. I started to play Ingress a while back, intending to eventually reach a high enough level to submit new points of interest. That way, I could submit on behalf of my rural friends. They'd just need to send me the the images, coordinates, and descriptions. However, after a couple days of playing Ingress, I lost interest. It's sooooo boring!

Ive never played Ingress, tbh- hold hands up im not much of a gamer- total geek on all Harry zpotter stuff, marvel etc etc..but was English teacher then now artist so didnt have much time, but now im hooked lol. Been play Hogwarts mystery since start too.

But i just thought that it might not get too 'buggy' for them to do an algorithm like that & u make a good point of course with restricted areas or private property. I was think though if they leave them always roadside that would reduce problems. Then it would reduce number of flagged ones as dangerous or inappropriate to have to remove. Its worth a thought, i should pop it on hints & tips anyway maybe, everything is always worth an ask eh!

Thanks @Acumen , glad we have people like you who know a lot about the technical sides of games like this one 😊

I definitely agree, it's worth an ask. It's a great idea. I can imagine a few challenges they'd need to overcome but, just like you said, if they stick with common roadside locations it should be fine. I'm not a gamer either. My idea of gaming before HPWU came out would have been dominoes or useless trivia. I only started playing Ingress because other people told me you can submit new points of interest through that game and, once approved, they'll also show up in PoGo and HPWU. The game doesn't seem very interesting to me though, so out with that idea. Like many other people, I was attracted to HPWU because I've always been a fan of the books and movies. That said, you probably shouldn't count on me for solid technical advice! Based on your feedback, I'm pretty sure you've got a more solid handle on the technical side of things than I do! 😄

Even in towns, the locations of some Inns/Greenhouses(maybe even fortresses) can be problematic.

I'm thinking that many of those in my city were marked by the same person, and some time ago : a lot of those are electrical cabinets, that were painted a few years back. These days, several have been replaced by new, unpainted cabinet. One "weird warehouse" is the location for a Greenhouse, but the warehouse itself was demolished.

More annoying : policy changes on public parks and monuments. One of the closest inns and a greenhouse are only available between 10am and 8pm (in summer, less during the rest of the year), and that route leads to a fortress. The four or five inns after that are all within the grounds of an abbey. Surrounded by a big wall, and fields. So mostly unavailable too. It's problematic if only "old" Ingress players can have a say.
