Nope, I didn't do anything. Was out doing errends and my wife drove so I could play the game. All of a sudden I got the notice that I completed the .25 km. And all of my port keys finished. will see what happens today.
@Drakonite I keep the app open all of the time and steps don't register. I just did it this morning walking 2 miles. No steps were counted. So this is a bigger issue than just AS.
I can't believe they proceeded with this event when there's so many issues with adventure Sync and distance tracking. What are they thinking?! This is so disrespectful to their dedicated player base. Honestly, I may just uninstall the game. I am so sick of the dread that every new upgrade is just going to make the game more and more dysfunctional.

This sucks! How can anyone complete any challenges that require Activsync? Hire some programmers that know what they're doing!!!!!

if you had the app open then it wasnt AS, if you had it closed and opened it then it was AS.
AS works only when app is closed, you walk # amount of steps then open the app and AS syncs them in and fills up a portion of a portk or all of it.
