Brilliant Events & Restricted Books questions and concerns
As stoked as I am for the upcoming Brilliant Event, waiting an unknown amount of time for a vague event to occur to get things I NEED to continue with my game play (restricted books) has been incredibly anxiety-enducing. Its all led to a few questions:
-How often will these events occur? Will they be reliable or totally random?
-Why is this the only way to get restricted books?
-Will the amount of restricted books I can get be capped at a certain amount per event?
-And my biggest concern/gripe: Why oh WHY do Professors require about 100 more restricted books than the other two professions??!
I started needing restricted books almost immediately into my lessons....and where Im at in my tree, I currently need about 60 restricted books to continue. While my auror and magizoologist friends around the same level need about 15. This seems incredibly unbalanced to me. And if it IS balanced, Id love to learn how so and where the logic is. If I had known this would be a thing, I would have gone with a different profession - but I am far too deep at this point to switch out now.
I appreciate yalls work SO much and I am having a ton of fun so far. But the restricted books stuff is kinda being a bit of a buzzkill.

Those 15 book professor lessons are pretty garbage. I also wonder what the thinking is behind those.
Flerkenly, you say you are too far in to change professions, but you dont lose anything when you change. Bouncing around professions and leveling up all at once can be really beneficial especially in groups for taking down fortresses. Give it a shot.
Aurors graduate high school and join the military. Magizoologists get their Bachelor's degrees. Professors have to go to grad school and get their PhD which requires a LOT of reading 😉
They all have pros and cons.
Aurors have high attack and low life meaning more potions. Magizoologists have high life and low attack meaning more friends/being social. While professors seem pretty balanced which I guess means more books.
For those Professors out there, save your restricted books!
15 books are needed for either the "Strength in Numbers" or "Restricted Section" which is very steep and provide little progress.💸
However, one can also take the lesson "The Proficiency Charm" and continue to progress down the profession lesson tree and use less green books. 🎓 📗

@SimplyMoose I agree there is certainly pros and cons to every profession, but forcing Professors to need *way* more of a specific item that can only be acquired fairly rarely (and only up to 15 during that time, no matter how much you play!) seems way unbalanced. Versus needing more scrolls or spellbooks which you can grind for specifically.
@drh4kor Yeah I decided to work on increasing my Hex abilities and will shell out for "Confidence" so I can get to the Initial Focus after that. But even then, that will take 2 more brilliant events to be able to do those two nodes. And who knows when those will happen next.
It is completely unfair they have nerfed the prof twice. Dhex being one of the best skills in the game to one of the worst. Now that you already invested all those resources they were pretty much a waste. Way to punish players.
@Flerkenly Professors have less red spell book requirements than the other professions. It's a trade off. (Aurors need 430 //Magi 465 // Professors only 320). I would argue that red spell books are MUCH more of an obstacle in the game than green restricted section books. You can only get red spell books from leveling up in challenges and maybe 2 of the achievements or the monthly gift you get of 3 of them if you play daily. When you are higher challenge level player, the amount of XP required to level doesn't cap at 100 like family XP does. It keeps growing and growing, making it VERY difficult to get red books. Green books are basically a gimme at this point. We have had consistent Brilliant Events almost every 2 weeks... not sure why anyone is complaining about restricted section books that are readily available and can be earned through very simple tasks.
@Herm10neG92 this is an old thread that got bumped by Twirlytiny. Nearly two months old now. It's an amusing thread to read now that we know what we know.
Oh my bad @Dogoutlaw I thought this was recent. I didn't check the dates, only saw that it was in recent discussions so I jumped to conclusions. Sorry @Flerkenly , the forums have been weird on my phone today ("like" ability is totally removed, discussion posts stay highlighted as if they are unread even after opened, etc) but I should double check dates prior to commenting.
