So, apparently you have to spend X-amount of dollars to get refills. This system is garbage so I need to find other ways to get energy refills. Help this wizard out? 1530 7053 3379

Not sure what you mean by need to spend dollars to get refills. You just need to go out and spin inns to top off your energy. As well as there is energy on the map to pick up, more during events than when no events.

It is a location based game and while can play from home you still need to get out and spin inns to get energy built back up.

You don’t need to spend any money to fill up on energy. You just need to go find some Inn’s -> usually in the same places as Pokestops/Portals. Go there and trace the glyph to get your energy. You can do this every 5 minutes. Whatever your source about the money said was incorrect. A good source for tips and tricks would be the Wizards Unites Hub btw.

Basically, if you don't want/can't get out to visit Inn's to replenish energy (it might be that you live in an area that has little to no Inn's), this game is not for you.

Energy should never really be an issue for you; yes, there are certain events where you might run lowish, but if you end up having to buy energy on a regular basis or in order to complete "Brilliant" events, I'd suggest to drop the game....

other games do get around this by doing a timed refill sort of thing, so that if you left it completely alone overnight you'd find maybe a third of your energy refilled after 8 hours or something. Niantic's approach seems to be more to encourage people to rely on gifts or to play their other games so you can nominate stops near where you are if lack of opportunity to refill is the problem. i like it much better now energy is found on the map than i did pre-pandemic when we had to visit inns to refill every time - but perhaps it could be that energy slowly refills if you spend a lot of time more than, say, 1km from the nearest inn?

Under normal circumstances, "energy refill" is as simple as drive to the local inns/greenhouses; pull over; eat; repeat; or, pick up off the ground.

Under normal circumstances, gifts give plenty of extra spell energy; get a long list of friends (see the friend code section of the forum) and you get all the spell energy you need there.

Right now, spell energy gifts are bugged, and you need to restart after each one. So the extravagent ones (about 14 each) are still worth it if you need it. This is a game play bug.

And, some people live in areas where there are no PoI's or ground spawns. Since TTD's (easy enough to brew) only give you map traces, and none of the other aspects of the game (ingredients, ground energy, random adversaries), there really is no good alternative if you don't live where there are spawns available. This is a design bug.

I really hate to say this, but your best bet is to drive around, and find areas where there's good spawns, and try to find a hot spot. The ingress XM layer is a decent approximation, so you might just make an ingress account just to get access to the scanner to see what areas might be "spawn dense".

Do not spend money on energy. Spend your gold on capacity.

The other option? You get 20 spell energy to use each day, and you can use potions to return 10 foundables in 10-15 spell energy if you focus on the easy ones; this will slowly build up your energy supply. And those (plain) exstimulo's rely only on cheap, easy to find ingredients that are ... umm ... on the map or in greenhouses ... and you just said you don't have those ... umm

Call that a gameplay design bug.
