Fan Festival Concerns

I put this as a reply to tickets announcement but I think it deserves its own thread.

When will we be getting more information about what the event will actually look like and have? I think that would definitely help with tickets sales if people know what they are paying for besides DRAGONS. I know this will be similar to Pokemon GO Fest held in Chicago and other cities but not everyone who plays this game played PoGO, and if they do may not have played for a while or gone to the events. I think releasing a here's what to expect would be very beneficial to all involved. I would also love to see a list of food truck available for people who have dietary restrictions or allergies to plan properly for the event. You don't have to give away the whole event because part of it is exploring and enjoying the surprises but I think more information than just dragons is highly needed. Especially for such a brand new game. I want this event to succeed and do well and Indianapolis is a wonderful city to start in, so I know it will be amazing but the general population of the game needs to know more when a lot of them are investing in hotels, flights, and time off work or away from families.

Does anyone else have concerns about what to expect and what will be involved for the weekend or want to know more? I know a lot of people on some of the discord servers I am in have been hesitant to buy tickets for lack of information.

if you have dietary restrictions or food allergies then you should bring your own food. i also have food allergies and so always pack my own food in rather then take a chance.

i would not expect the event host to provide food (niantic/warner brothers) - although i am sure local options are available. i would not want to waste event time leaving the event area.

seriously, if you have food allergies pack a lunch. i only have one epi-pen and it will be close to expiring by the time the event hits. i would be willing to take a chance with it if i need it, but i would be afraid of giving it to someone else. be smart, know your limitations, plan accordingly.

standard loadout for niantic events is a backpack full of water bottles, some snacks and a lunch, and a backup battery pack for your phone. i recommend an anker brand battery pack in the largest size you can afford.

toss in some sunscreen and a ziplock bag for your phone (if it is not already waterproof) and you will be good to go all day.

have been attending niantic gaming events for longer then half a decade, helped host some of them, and if you bring water, food and battery you will be good to go all day long.

show up rested and ready, prepared and excited, and have a good time!

parking in the zoo parking lot across the water with a pedestrian walkway to the park is $15 all day until midnight.

@BismarckVonS That's the way I feel. After I brought my ticket I went on the next morning to find airfare and hotel. It was going to cost around $600 to $700 (depending on where I wanted to stay, price of food, transportation, ect.).

FYI: the Fan Festival will coincide with the Indiana Comic Con being held at the Convention Center just a few blocks away. I thought everyone should know in case they see Dr. Strange, or the Scarlet Witch and think they are in the wrong part of the multiverse. Then again, it might give people something to do on the day they aren’t at the festival.

I would love a map of the area we will be in, the Park area specifically. We are trying to find a spot where everyone from our area can meet up. This park is huge. Plus then I can gauge where I need to head when I arrive to finish a few pages.
