Brilliant Three-Headed Dog disappearing.

I'm having issues with the three headed dog for the 1st task. I'm able to get 1 or 2 hits on it and then it just disappears. I've had this with 3 or 4 of them now. I've already rebooted the game, my phone, etc and it is still happening.

Update, it seems to be fixed now. And then 5 minutes later it started happening again.
