If anyone signed in tonight you probably saw the announcement about limited time lenses for Bauxbatons and Durmstrang. They cost 600 gold coins each. I think something like limited time lenses/stickers makes sense for a game like this, but I know this isn’t a part of the game I’m overly compelled by. I think this is magnified (for me at least) due to the fact that these lenses are for my own eyes only for most purposes.

However, it will be interesting to see if Niantic is successful at getting people to buy these limited time outfits or not. So, how about you? Do you plan to take up the style of the French or the far north of Europe and represent one of these Wizarding Schools?

😂😂right? I don’t even like buying clothes IRL. Ain’t gonna spend pretend money on it either. But hey, if that’s your thing, go for it.

All my hard-earned coins went to increase the spell energy capacity. I am now at 195 so I charged in full at downtown before heading home in rural area. Considering 600 coins for an outfit, I just couldn’t afford it.

9/23 of my friend list showed inactive 2+ days ago, this game becomes unplayable for many of them— 4-5 spells for a stubborn green bar confoundable with like 20% fleeing rate on top of that even at my current Lvl 33, how many Foundables you can get with 100 spell energy which may take you an hour to recharge ? Not many people have that luxury to do this on a daily basis.

every coin i get my hands on is destined for spell energy cap. up to 305 total now, although i did spend some coins on runestones to hunt centaur bows while warewolves were out.

aside from that deviation - until i hit a hard coded limit on spell energy cap increase ( if there is one ) - something would have to be very, very compelling to get me off track.

    lenses arent it.

that said, is just my approach of deciding that not being chained to the nearest inn for map exploration is more important then visual impact. if someone likes the lenses i support their interest in grabbing a limited time offer.

Lol I'm so glad I found this post, I accidentally clicked off of that announcement before it completely loaded.

Heck no, even though the Durmstrang one would be rather comical. Unless they change it where you can see other players Avatars I won't be buying any lenses. If I want silly lenses that people can only see when I send them in a message I'll redownload Snapchat.

I agree with pretty much all the thoughts expressed here. Seems silly to me, but since any in-game purchase can technically be considered frivolous, I won't criticize anyone else who dropped 600 coins for a filter. Like most other players, my coins are reserved for vault space increases, and I think I purchased two sacks of runestones while level-one fortress spamming was still a profitable XP venture.

I've spent for avatar clothing in Pokemon go but

    (1) coins in PoGo are cheaper (in real money) / easier to obtain (via gameplay) and go farther,

    (2) players other than myself can see the avatar customizations and I can see the avatar customization during play without having to go into a side screen, and

    (3) I'm not even using a photo of myself on the ministry badge (I don't like photos of myself), just the very dull stock avatar, so clothing items are useless to me anyway.

I bought the Spectrespecs Lenses when they came out just a few days into gameplay, but only because they came with other stuff. I think it was $5? I wear them and I like them.

@ScallyD Same! I have been parts of games before that offered those introduction packages and have been really bummed later when I realized how good the intro deals were compared to what you get as a more seasoned player. So when I saw that intro package, I grabbed it up and noticed afterwards it had the spectrespecs included.
