Runestone Rewards

The following are observations I have made regarding runestones and the rewards they offer. If you want the best bang for your buck, avoid using level 1 runestones. Here’s why;

From Fortress level 1 to 8 the most consistent standard rewards are books which are stored on the 3 book frames in the Registry under Challenges. Using only no. 1 runestones on any level from 1 through 8 will garner you more books for your book frames, and that’s pretty much it. Every once in a while, instead of books, you may get a fragment instead for one of the Families’ respective frames; usually a fragment you'll rarely find on the map but can be more readily found doing Fortress battles. With no. 1 runestones, you won’t get both though. It’s either books, or a fragment(s).

Whenever you use a no. 2 or higher runestone, you almost always get a rare fragment to go with your books. Fragments like Sword of Gryffindor, Horned Serpent Egg, Centaur Bow, Portable Swamp, Fanged Frisbee, Fountain of Magical Brethren, House Hourglasses, Wizard Chess Queen, Abraxan Winged Horse, Quidditch World Cup and so on, are all rewarded for Wizarding Challenges using runestones numbered 2 or above. This is not a hard rule, sometimes you may just gets books but that’s rare.

Rarer still is being rewarded 2 different fragments like I received this morning for a level 9 chamber with a no. 2 runestone; Deathly Hallows and Sword of Gryffindor.

It also appears at level 9 you stop getting books and and start getting House Crests (Registry/Challenges/Symbols of the Wizarding World II) as a basic reward. I got tired of using a no.1 runestone and getting nothing but Crests, so I up it to a no. 2 runestone and voila! Da Goods!

Thanks for this! I’m still trying to figure out how to get the runes book for book I, but other than that, I’ve been pushing up the tower as well to get other items. Cool to know it changes up at lvl 9. I’m pretty sure I’ve unlocked that one, but not played it yet. Something to look forward to!

@Dogoutlaw Focus on the lower Fortress chambers for books I and II.

Here is an example of the 3 battles I had this morning that reflects my comments above. On my 3rd battle I dropped to a level 8 to conserve on potions and compensated by using a no. 5 runestone; check out the Challenge XP I received. Dropping a level and using a higher runestone can pay off way better if like me you're struggling to get by on a difficult level while trying to keep potion usage down.

1. Top left: Level 9, no. 1 runestone: No family XP, no other rewards.
2. Top right: Level 9, no. 2 runestone: Bonus fragment, family XP and more challenge XP.
3. Bottom: Level 8, no. 5 runestone: 2x Bonus fragments, family XP and WAY MORE challenge XP.

edit: I mistakenly stated in my OP the 2x Bonus fragments were from a Level 9 battle. It was a level 8 with no.5 runestone. Still a good score.

i have gold prestiged and placed every image for books 1 and books 2. currently just a few books away from books 3 becoming gold.

level 1 runestones are a critical resource for getting books 3 objects - mostly from ruins level 3.

trying to get objects for the specific room of books 3 using any level other then level 1 runestones is nearly impossible.

I’ve been trying the lower levels but keep getting the other ones I already have. The runes book is proving allusive for me🤷🏼‍♀️ And I’d rather play at higher levels so it’s hard stick in lower levels for long. With your insight tho, I guess I’ll just use my runestone 1’s when I get them to go looking, save the others for higher levels.

I feel you @Dogoutlaw . I still need to place all but two of the images for gold level books 1 and 11, and I haven't even made it to silver level on books III. I know I need to spend some time on Ruins level fortress challenges to finish those, but it's so BORING on those levels, and frustrating when you only get fragments for the couple books you've already finished. Oh well, there could be worse things I suppose.

@Dogoutlaw Woot! Way to go! I find I'm having a similar problem. I moved up the chain so fast I have Books III at silver, Books II at bronze and I've yet to prestige Books I. Now I'm trying to locate the two last fragments for A Beginner's Guide to Transfiguration so I can finally prestige that first frame, and two fragments of The Standard Book of Spells to bring Books II to silver. Proving to be elusive.

I got transfiguration twice last night - lvl 2 magi 1 and lvl 1 flora and fauna 1

Book of spells was with dark arts 1, can’t remember what lvl tho.

Don’t know if that will help, it might just be random. But just in case. I feel you tho. We were just about the same. I also didn’t stick in the low levels long. Runes book finally let me prestige books I for the first time. So now I and II are bronze, and III is silver. Good luck!

Thank you! That helps me with the discussion i just posted, ive been use a lot of level 1 runestones simply cos i have loads of them. So that's where the pesky pieces are hiding. Iv opened level 10 ruins the other week so il start looking around more with higher runes- need lots of healing potion being an auror!

Maybe should have had a read through b4 posting lol.
