What should I spend my restricted section books on?

I'm an Auror and I want to update my profession. I heard it's better to update power than it is stamina. I currently have 17 spell books, 20 scrolls, and 19 restricted section books. Send help.

Power is what I originally focused on. I found hitting harder got me out of the fight quicker which meant I didn't need as much in thevway of stamina.

Precision is great to increase your chances of a critical next.

I got First Strike and Dancing With Dummies with my green books.

    Best of luck to you!

power, then critical power, then precision, was my move. as soon as i got to defense breach i put the brakes on all else and maxed it.

first thing i spent green books on was 'first strike' and love it.

    then went after proficiency power.

second round of green books i opened the path to the accuracy skill, and maxed it.

lastly i got defense, protego, stamina.

currently held up on regular spellbooks for the final levels of power and such.

auror profession level 9...if i could do it all over again knowing what i know now, i would do it the exact same way.

choosing to avoid stamina and focus on power means you will become familiar with the knockout timer. over 500 fortress battles fought, and have won every single time. never lost a runestone.

@kimhomeslice if you're unfamiliar with the knock out timer @Digitalis mentioned, you don't die when your stamina hits 0 you just get knocked out for a certain amount of time dependent on the level of the fortress you're on and then you revive with 100% health.

I chose Professor and I likewise focused on power over stamina, used my restricted books for Deterioration Hex and only went to Stamina once I started pushing higher in the Fortress. The harder you hit the less spell energy you use which is a big factor if you want to grind XP on the Fortress.

Great advice on this thread! I'm a Professor and went the defense route. I think it pretty much balances out regarding your ability get through tough fortress challenges, but @CytopeAchen makes a great point that more power means using less spell energy to defeat foes. I don't take much damage, but hitting at just a 62 power level means I have to throw a lot of blows to take down beasts and dark arts foes. Now that I've completed all the scrolls-only sections of my lessons tree, I'll work on completing at least a few higher level fortress challenges a day to get the spell books I need to max out my power and critical power. I'll complete the last step of my protego power somewhere in there too. During next week's event, I'll finally get around to giving my deterioration hex a much needed boost. There's no need to give it too much thought, since you'll end up with all the stuff you need eventually.

Great advice on this thread! I'm a professor and went the defense route. While it all pretty much balances out when it comes to one's ability to handle more difficult fortress challenges, @CytopeAchen makes a great point that more power equals less spell energy spent on fighting foes. I don't take much damage, but weighing in at only 62 power level, I have to throw a lot of blows to take down beasts and dark arts foes. Now that I've completed all the scrolls-only sections of my lesson plan, I'll need to spend more time on fortress challenges to get the spell books I need to max out my power and critical power. I'll finish the last step on my protego power somewhere in there too. During the next event, I'll finally give my deterioration hex a much needed boost. I wouldn't give it too much thought, because you'll end up with everything you need eventually anyway. I'd make a couple different choices if I had to do it again, but I also don't feel like the choices I did make had any negative impact on my game experience.

Apparently my comment posted twice. It appeared as if it didn't post the first time, so I wrote it again. I have WAY more trouble with this UI than I should. Clearly, I'm just not very good at this.

Lol, probably a glitch or they pulled the first for review and you didn't realize it. They don't really make the alert very visible or last very long when they do that.
