Dark Detectors and Event Foundables

I've tried to maximise my time near POI and use dark detectors however I find that they don't summon up brilliant foundables and don't keep a steady flow of foundables - I spend time looking at an empty screen which isn't much fun at all!
Have I missed SOS lessons to increase the effectiveness of Dark Detectors?
Are there any plans to have them work better with event foundables?
