Hi Everyone.

And thanks for the info Lola!
Great task list on this BE!
Thank you @HPWUTeam!
So excited for Quidditch fan Luna! She's one of the few I still need to star on gold.
Masterful Flipendo? Please reconsider.
No thank you. It is obvious that whoever is creating the tasks does NOT play the game and does NOT care about the player base. Cast masterful flipendo...endlessly return brilliant foundables ...waste 15 potions ... NOT FUN...NO THANK YOU... on the upside I will have more free time because I won’t be playing HPWU. (Maybe I should actually thank you for pushing me closer to deleting the game - most of the people I used to play with already have)
LOL at the masterful flippendo task. Not sure I've ever done a masterful on that one, and I usually don't have trouble with casting other masterful spells.
Wait, what? Masterfull flipendo is impossible to spell one. I need quick spell to get masterfull twice.
@EPHedwig you're lucky if great ebublio is easy, but this one is impossible to finish.
@Owlx Quidditch Fan Luna is rare to find, so get place image before event ends.
@hpwulola Do the ones creating these event tasks even listen to the community? Brilliant events are required to be completed, in order to progress in your skill trees. Tasks should not be impossible for many people to complete.
I can cast Masterful Flipendo occasionally, but it is one of the more difficult ones to cast. Most of the friends that I play with will likely be bugging me to help them complete the event, because many people cannot perform Masterful casts for many of the patterns.
So many people have quit, thanks to missing Brilliant events or not being able to complete them. Restricted Section Books are required to make progress in the game. When people miss out on being able to earn them, it is very discouraging and often leads to players quitting the game. Brilliant events should be enjoyable, not a set of chores that you are forced to complete or your progress is halted.
Another fun tid-bit: They reversed order of tasks: "Collect rune stones" now happens at step 2 and requires 6 runes. THEN, in step three you have to gather the 12 Fred's.
For comparison, last round (and I think most rounds before that) we had one type first, then the other type and finally collect the runestones (5 of them). In addition, now everybody is likely at max rank for that family so you need even more FXP to get them than you needed in part 1.
I'm willing to bet money on that whoever decided to shuffle these around wasn't aware that this would result in a way more serious grind... LOL
Besides, I still dislike these tasks because a) you have an incredible advantage if you know or assume that the task will come and b) the interface is actively working against being tactical about this (what with auto return to registry).
...so, basically there is a "Earn 240 BE family XP" task in list 2. Or, 240-12*3=204 FXP, after doing the first round of tasks. Or, yet in other words "return 70 BE foundables" in total in the first two rounds minus whatever you can do by walking portkeys. And then in tasks 3 the additional 12 on top, of course.
Totally doable, but not exactly what I'd consider fun...
@HalloMami for the second BE you could "cheat" it out by using saved your opened BE part 1 portkey , isnt it?😅
not really reliable method though as its not always give BE xp
Masterful flipendo obviously the ones cresting the events has never played
@BenTiger
The knack to masterful cast is finding your sweet spot between casting the spell fast enough and accurate enough -- start trying it stupidly too fast & over time gradually slow it down until you start casting near enough to the line that you start getting masterfuls. Do try your best to concentrate/ focus on each cast (at least while you have potions on), after a while its all too easy to let your mind wander onto other things & let your speed drop and/ or accuracy slip.
Failing that maybe you could try finding something you can make a template of the spell out of, that you could put on your screen & run your finger along the edge of, e.g. card, plasticine, wire, bluetak, tape, etc? It would probably need a bit fettling and of course you wouldn't use anything that might scratch/damage your phone or cut your finger. But in the long run it is probably less hassle & more rewarding to work on your casting skills/ muscle memory than fiddle about with umpteen templates.
Also, in the past sometimes I'd swear blind someone had tinkered with the algorithms for specific foundables for events to make them easier or harder to achieve a masterful cast -- just after you cast the spell the bar seems to fill noticeably slower/ faster than it did the day before the event for that very same foundable! Could be just me though and I probably wouldn't notice it these days since I'm not griinding for xp, frags, guides & manuals anymore [touch wood lol].
Somewhere in these forums someone suggested forming the shape of a square route calculation sign for the flipendo spell. In other words instead of following the curve at the end of the cast, go straight across. The trick is to find the correct spot to make the turn to go straight across. I have found this to be extremely helpful and I wish I could name of the player who suggested it to give him/her proper credit.
As an aside, I have found that on difficult spells starting off slow and finishing fast increases my accuracy.
I prefer to do my best to perform masterful flipendo than to collect 45 boring brilliant foundables. At least the masterful task requires some skills
@BenTiger 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I don't think I've ever cast a masterful Flipendo either. There won't be a way to work your way out of this one.
It seems some may have forgotten that there are three ways to collect BE XP needed to collect event runestones. Map, Portkey and Fortress. Play several Fortress Challenges to move things along.
I’m level 60, been in the game since it started and completed every event so far. I don’t remember ever having cast a masterful flipendo, it’s one of the hardest spells to cast well. Casting 2 masterful named spells seems a bridge too far! To the powers that be, please reconsider!
I’ve played since the start and I’d estimate that I’ve completed 300+ masterful casts; I have never managed a masterful flipendo EVER.
I started the day the game was released in the US. I've considered quitting many times since the debacle--lost a lot of progress, and the "compensation" was worthless--but this may be the end for me if I am unable to complete the registry.
I cannot cast a single masterful Flipendo, much less two. I know I am not alone in this.
I've spent a fair amount of real money on HPWU, but I am not hindered by the sunk cost fallacy. If you're going to make the gameplay utterly miserable, there's no point in going on.
If you want masterful flipendo, train spell flipendo before your start. This one, i can masterful flipendo to finish BE.
The problem is, there too many use potion in bonus task too.
I guess I should not be surprised by the number of people complaining, but I am.
This is a game and there is some skill involved. If you can't complete Masterful on page 4, then you will have still completed the majority of the event and will have 10 Restricted Books as reward. If you don't want to use 15 potions, then don't. That's a bonus task and you forego 5 Restricted Books and 5 DADA. If obtaining those is not worth 15 potions, that's your choice.
Saying you are giving up the game because you haven't figured out how to master Flipendo seems a bit extreme.
There are several places you can go for tips on this and other spell casts. It's a difficult one to be sure, but not that impossible.
There is really no pleasing everyone. Some think the game is too easy and just a slog with rewards not worth it. Others are saying it's too hard and are complaining they will miss out on valuable rewards. Putting Masterful casts as the 4th page is reasonable. That last page should be more difficult and the bonus is just that. A bonus.
We have a lot of time to complete this one. I'm looking forward to it.
To anyone struggling with casting masterful flippendo, try this nifty little trick. It worked for me, after several incomplete spells though... At least you get to try again. Courtesy of @plotter101HPWU on twitter .

Masterful flipendo? People saying to practice and I'll get it like over a year of it isn't enough? More likely I'd throw my phone at the wall of the inn I'm at and possibly stroking out. I'm going to pass on this one too and take a week off.
@Not4u13 : Well, I agree with the respect to the bonus round. Frankly, I find the bonus tasks typically too easy compared with the first 4 stages. If that means that the first 4 stages are too hard or if the bonus stuff is too easy, up for you too decide.
But I think you are missing the point when you say that "one completed most of the event" if you made it through the first 3 pages:
True, the books are nice; but they are not supercrucial, you can always get more later. There are 2 elements to a BE that I consider more relevant than any books: First, you want to be able to complete the page in the registry, and secondly you want to read all of the story elements. You can't do neither when you don't complete the fourth task page. And in particular in a game that is mostly about completing your registry, I'm not surprised that some think that this is a big deal...
This is why I'm harping on about that at least up to that point, the tasks should be easy as heck for a low level, casual player. Once you get the missing piece for the registry, tasks can get crazy, you can have 10 extra bonus rounds with impossible to do things, whatever.
And regarding skill: Well, I did a masterful cast the other day, so I'm kind of optimistic about this. However, there are several reports indicating that the "difficulty" of the spells depends greatly on the device that you are using, which makes this kinda unfair...
The task of having to cast not one but two Masterful Flipendos is going to prevent me from completing this Brilliant Event, for the first time ever. I am really bummed out about that. No bueno!
I managed to do a masterful flipendo using the trick noted by Captain Major (see above for screenshot). First time for me ever, you basically trace a root sign instead of what is shown on the screen (which is kind of an absurd hack but it does work).
Now that I’ve done it once, I’m sure I can do it a couple more time when I’m on that task.
Edit: 3 out of my next 7 Flipendo casts were masterful, so the hack is very repeatable.
@HalloMami
Appreciate the comments. Good point about the registry page. Not completing the final task would leave one item not placed with really no way to get it after the event is complete. I have a couple of those from the early days where I had not discovered a fortress nearby and was unable to complete any fortress tasks.
Event just started and I have been keeping tally -1st task needs clocks... but so far even with TTD, 5 clocks have appeared and 12 Freds... I believe the Fred's aren't need so early - so crank those down (just a tad) in favour of the clocks!
Masterful flippendo as a non bonus task - is a little tricky... I on rare occasions do cast but with number normally appearing and with a single great typically catching this might be a little tricky especially 2 times! As a bonus task... maybe ok... but keep the spells cast out of the regular task list - not everyone is as nimble of the screen swipes.
@Not4u13
Is it not the case that completing page 4 is the only way to obtain the jumper?
The inability to cast Flipendo means those who cannot do it will not be able to complete the registry page.
I've completed every registry page since the game went live. I can live without the rewards, but I don't want to play anymore if I have to look at the blank spot with no hope of ever filling it.
