It was so Lame
The major problem with HPWU Community Day was that there were no goals either defined or implied. I'm not talking rewards I'm talking Goals. In Pogo Community Days you want to collect shinies, get that elusive hundo or increase you candy of a specific Pokemon on Community Day. HPWU Com Day just had increased spawns and a very few more severe foundables but we were all waiting to find out what our main goal or task was and it never came. Nothing to strive for, no competitiveness, no real point to see it through till the end.

I enjoyed it. My goal was to level up taking advantage of the 3x XP using the potion. I also leveled up my registry of Hogwarts and caught 4 of the fawlkes which are rare encounters, Voldemort’s photo, two Dumbledore photos and a Harry quidditch captain /dementor encounter that was not the brilliant event associated one.
I was able to use it to level up, but I had a LOT of trouble with the game. None of my portkeys, which I have been saving, would work, so I couldn't take advantage of the 3x XP. The dark detectors were worthless. Plus, the game kept seizing up.
Apart from all that, I'm unsure what this event had to do with community.
I only encountered fawlkes once at 2:02pm and captured it at first attempt, then nothing else made me feel excited. Maybe **** of 100K XP to level up to 32 was another achievement. Gameplay was highly unstable, I.e., crashed 20+ times when visiting inns. Brilliant items spawn too much and I didn’t bother to catch for a waste of energy. As always, feel very frustrated when resisted 5+ times with these supposedly easy creatures and departed eventually.
just want to reiterate there is no obvious purpose of this very first community day, emergency or severe threat level foundables of certain family should have spawned way more frequently for us sticker collectors.
anyway, will go for Pokemon community day tomorrow as a long term supporter:)
I understand it didn’t have a ton of specific things to really go after in the game...but I did really enjoy it because we got 9 people together and I made new friends, went hunting for traces, and battled in the fortress togrther. So I had a lot of fun using it as an excuse to getting a group together and meeting wizards in my area.
It was a waste of 3 hours!
The Good: The 3x was the best part of the whole event. The free Brain was also nice. And there were lots of School spawns.
The Bad: The Dark Detectors (DDs) don't work right at all. In PoGo, when you use a Lure on CD it lasts 3 hours and draws more of the specific CD pokemon. In WU, it drew everything EXCEPT the School spawns. I even went to a School nest, one with 3 inns at 3 DDs each. Not one Severe or Emergency level School spawn.
Also, the Brilliant event overlapping the CD didn't help matters much. The two event foundables practically spawned on top of each other.
The F!?!: Before the CD began, I was 3 Cabinets away from Prestige in the 1st School page. After 3 hours, I am now 1 Cabinet away from that same Prestige. The spawns were all 4 students, Sprout, Flitwick, Myrtle, and Peeves. Never saw a McGonagall.
I think the event was okay except it was hyped the wrong way and I think it should have been called something else. When you put "Day" in a title then it should be for a full day/24 hrs. Call it something like the Witching (Happy) Hour or something simple if it's only going to last a few hours. Make these type of events random, like pop-up events without warning, BUT make them frequent enough so they can cover different times of the day/week/weekend so that it caters to everyone at some point. If it is a random event then some will catch it one time and maybe miss it another time.
I did enjoy the free stuff from the shop, so a big thanks for that, and the 3x was excellent too. The dark detectors... eh, not so much.
✌️
My goal was to level up from 26 to 27 and it was going to the right way. I also prestiged my Hagwarts School first page. But the HEAT was soooooo bad! My iPhone SE & me was so hot and I got sick at the end of the day!!!
I met up with a few other players and we killed it!
I went to bed last night having just hit level 24. I got to the park and ran through placing Dark Detectors (3 each) on all the Inns. When it hit 11am, the park lit up like a Christmas tree! There were more traces than we could capture! It was fantastic. There were tons of traces we hadn't run into yet that we were able to grab.
In just under the 3 hour window I went from 24 to 25.
Looking forward to the next one.
I think it fulfilled it's name; introducing yourself into the community. I likely never would have met these other players because we work this park on different days and times.
I feel like there needed to be something more eg, Pokemon Go. You have the shiny variant added and a higher chance of getting it. Plus a few other bonuses. This didn't feel like anything special. Yes there were more foundables, but it also used up a lot of energy. Which kept running out, even with inns and the free little bit, I had to keep spending money to buy more, which is a lot of money, to not get a lot in return, same with the storage.
I didn't even earn that much xp. And didn't level up once, and the constantly crashing inns was also super frustrating.
Hopefully the next comm day is better after feedback.
I found it to be a nice perk, but I agree that the name was a little misleading.
If the goal is to get users out playing together, shouldn't you have some kind of buff that is focused on fortresses, since that is the only cooperative element?
Still, I feel like I made a days worth of progress in 2 hours, so I can't object to that!
There was nothing very "community" about it. No bonus xp for grouping in Fortresses beyond the norm, no incentive for being around anyone or making new friends.
Hopefully they listen to our feedback.
The event was fine. There was a surplus in 9 3/4 registries. Using it to complete the registry and prestige made sense. The really lower rate foundables appear in much greater frequency. My only disappointment with it was that a group of us collectively took advantage of the 1hr dark detectors and with 27 Dds spread over 9 inns we only received 2 emergency level encounters. Otherwise it was a good start. Only players who will dislike it are those who have gold registry on all pages but since I last checked no player had had that problem so good idea as a whole.
I opted to stay at home, cos I was gonna do the PoGo Community Day the next day.
I used my free 50 energy and there was enough spawns at home to keep me amused.
I levelled up once, but no severe spawns to interact with.
Agree with original post. Was very underwhelming.
I didn't play much on Wizards Unite community day because of that reason. I tried on Pokémon Go community day because they introduced something new that we haven't seen a new shiny Mudkip and an exclusive move Hydro **** onto Swampert but with Harry potter it was just increased spawns
Imagine how dumb I felt when I found out until a day later that you needed to drink your potion to start it all .... 🤦🏽♂️ So it all went by without me participating on it. Anyway for what I'm reading..think I didn't miss much. Hopefully next one gets better objectives and the software gets more stable
Good and quite agreeable points made, the game needs a overhaul in various aspects to make it work Socially and part due to the WU Community Day being very much a hit and miss affair, there was only two of us in a decent park nearby and Sundays PokeGo were a few dozen at least in this same place. ... timing not the best either on a Saturday morning and start of the School Holidays for many as well !
I personally had fun. My community has a chat and page for helping find spawns and rare things on the every day. While it was not the amazing shiny day I get in pogo. Year one of pogo was not the best either. I remember how we had to run around with broken trackers and more. While we used DD and got almost no rare spawns we did get some levels and work towards a gold level prestige on the 9 3/4 classroom. The free stuff from the shop was great as well. I feel it needs some work to be as good as pogo just like most of the other comments here but for a first community day it was great over all.
It was totally nonsense. In my timezone in India it was in the afternoon when temperatures to more than 40 degrees Celsius, i was looking forward to playing and I'm a big HP fan but this seems like a poor attempt without any localised research to boost game adoption. But as long as they don't play close attention to these logistical details WU will never take off
Masterful casts should not be resisted. 12 great or masterful casts in a row just to watch the confoundable depart is unfun.
I loved it. Being my first time. I never played PoGo. So my main thing was the heat. I wanted to level up more and walk more to open my Portkeys but u can't tolerate the heat. That's my only issue. Next Com Day, hopefully it's a better weather.
I think it had one good thing and that was obviously the 3x exp. It really helped to level up in a faster way. Now for the rest it was kind of lame because I didn’t find anything I’d **** to have. Yes I saw a couple of foundable a I didn’t have nor seen before but still was not something breathtaking.
Good news is that they have a lot of room to improve so so I expect next community day would be way better
Pretty underwhelming... I literally didn't need to walk more than a block to have foundables available so I sat on a bench for 2 hours (stopped playing early) and didn't see anyone else playing. The big disappointment was that xp was supposed to be the draw.... But coming after a huge nerf to fortress xp as well as the reduction of the brilliant foundables from 500xp each... It felt like a ton of using potions to get less xp than is been getting earlier that week for just casually walking around
Exactly! I moved to a new town and cannot find anyone to play with - I've joined messenger boards and country wide Facebook groups (I'm an American in Germany) and I can see that there are people planting at greenhouses but there's no way for me to figure out who they are to play with them! I'm at level 20 but have yet to use a fortress with another person so this game is really not worth the time anymore.
Totally agree with @Timekeeper2 - masterful casts shouldn't be evaded. I wasted a potent existimulo potion, a dwadle drought and cast masterfully only to be wasted.
Also, incorrect casts shouldn't use spell energy! 😤 I've got a dog on a leash, am navigating busy sidewalks and I can't imagine how frustrating it would be if my friend played who has a tremor. I lose a third of my spell energy because my phone is too big for my female hands anyway.
