If you switch professions can you switch back with out loosing progress. I'm considering switching to professor for the pixie task.

You can totally level up professions simultaneously and switch between them freely! Just takes more scrolls and books. ;)

So we don't lose any books or scrolls when we switch, correct?
The scrolls and books you already used in profession #1 stay with profession #1. So if you get to level 4 on profession #1 and change to profession #2 , you will start profession #2 at 0 and work it up. If you build it to level 2 (by putting in scrolls and books) and decide you preferred profession #1...you can switch back and profession #1 will still be at level 4.
So you don’t “lose” books...they just stay invested in whatever profession to put them into.
What if I have hundreds of scrolls in profession 1, but want to switch to profession 2 just to increase getting certain for in fortress. Will those scrolls be there when I switch back?
@BlueGymLead The scrolls you own can be used in any of them. Some people are actually leveling all three professions at the same time. However, once you level a skill you use those scrolls and they are gone for good. So if I put them in for more Focus as a Professor, then switch to an auror...I will have to start the skill tree from the beginning as an auror. But I can switch right back to professor and still have that increased focus that I already unlocked.
I was just making sure you realized...once you use a scroll on a skill in a profession...it stays with THAT skill in THAT profession. You can’t redistribute later.
Yeah, at first I was like "professor all the way"... Then I started coming across more creatures, so I decided to switch over to magizoologist... Didn't notice that it had basic stats on me again. I had assumed they would all be active together and that wasnt the case. So, I switched back to professor.
I switched to professor and got all the pixies in 2 days. As an auror, I had been trying for close to a month.
If I have a stockpile of scrolls and spell books that I haven’t used towards any of the skills in Professor, whenI switch to Auror will I be able to use them towards the Auror skills? or do they stay unspent in Professor? or do I just lose them completely?
@Lokijo29 you keep your books and scrolls in your vault when you switch. What’s spent is spent, and those lessons stay when you go back to that profession. Hopefully that makes sense.
I am delighted to see several people saying that we can level up all three professions at the same time. I just finished all of the lessons in magizoologist and I have a ton of scrolls left over. I was thinking about leveling up one, or both, of the other professions, but I didn't want to lose my progress in my first profession.
@Natuernut You also have to take into account Restricted Section Books and the possibility that DADA books will be required for future lesson plans. If they don't add additional ways to get these two books, you will be limited to one profession for a while. Professors require the highest amount of RSB for their first lesson plan. Chances are that Auror and Magizoologist will have higher RSB requirements for their second lesson plans.
