I’ve quickly acquired a few friends, we’re all very excited about playing. Why is it that we cannot see each other’s profile pictures inside the game? (Not referring to the social media upload)
I've been wondering about this as well. I thought the whole point of customizing your profile pic was to show off your creativity and such. What's the point of the pic if no one can see it? We can see our friends' avatars in Pokemon GO, why not here?
I suspect that it has to do with COPPA or something similar. Since children can play the game showing them pictures could be problematic. I suspect it will be possible to allow pictures to be shown but to block them for accounts registered through Niantic Kids. For now you can share your pictures via your social media sites.
They don't want to moderate an in-house social media platform for inappropriate images. I'm sure you can imagine where this could go and how much manpower that would take.....With the way they have it now, you can share the photo to social media so the responsibility is on that network to police your image...not Niantic.
I bet there’s a way to keep inappropriate profile pictures from being saved. This game is for all ages, great to point that out. I’m sure the makers of the game would not want even the nastiest shared on any platform as it could portray the app in an unsavory light. Now I need to go take a shower as I had not even considered the vulgar things people do as a possibility before this conversation.
I’m simply upset that we haven’t any Ilvermorny features to choose from to show our American house pride. 💁♂️ I’d be content to display the Puckwudgie crest as my profile picture.
Yeah, it's a bummer for sure. I wish there could be some sort of compromise, at least short term. Maybe we could only show one of the premade images to our buddies? I think that would be kinda boring, but at least is something for the time being.
