Professors are still worst profession (adversaries update)
Aurors have high attack, high crits and low bulk. They work as supposed. Let's compare Professors and Magizoologists. Last ones should be more tough and do less damage. Right? No.
First two foes in lineup are easy so we assume that we trying to **** last foe (or upcoming Lethal Adversaries) and calculate neutral damage to them. All available buffs applied (we can't use debuffs and shields in adversaries combat).
So Magizoologist have higher attack and higher bulk than professors. It doesn't matter we talk about basic power or critical hits - both of them are slightly higher. And bulk difference is even more notable.
Adversaries also have Defence stat. Last foes seem to have 50% defence (at least Draco and Fenrir). And this makes things only worse. Actual numbers doesn't matter, any defence works for magizoologists as they have higher defencу breach (why?). (102 vs 120 average).
And this is added to oddities 100HP breakpoints (Vampires, Fluffies and other) which we were talking about on each oddities community days.

Comments
get the sos nodes for wit sharp up to 6-9% (base 3%) then activate one in a fort and leave fort w at least 1 charge left, then the wit sharp will increase your power in overworld oddities w/o it being spent.
In adversaries it will spend charges.
Professor's power increasing for active buffs is already included in calculation above
cool
Yeah. I started as a Professor. Maxed it out first. I solo lower (1-16) chambers as a Prof, and prefer to play it in high chambers with teams.
Still... With my heart bleeding, I started learning the new skills with my Auror. Stupid unbalanced professions.
p.s. Since yesterday the final foes started dodging like ****. Narcissa Dodged 7 times. I was in doubt for that fight, would have the Prof done better maybe?
Thank you Balmer for producing this file. This shows well how underpowered professors are Vs adversaries.
We were already the weakest against oddities, but our weak defence breach just make it much worse against adversaries.
As my wife is auror, I mostly compare with this profession. As they are more fragile, I find normal that they deal more damage but not with such a difference. Theory crafting is a bit more difficult with aurors as they have abilities depending of the opponent life (guaranteed crit with improved damage on first hit, increased damage and defense when opponents are below 50%).
We compared our stats against the last 3 dragons we met :
- as an auror, she needed 14 hits and used 3 potions (potent extimulo)
- as a professor, I needed 29 hits and used 10 potions (3 potent extimulo, 3 strong extimulo, 4 healing)
This is just ridiculously unbalanced...
Btw Narcissa (the only dodgy opponent) is the only adversary giving her some trouble. Against Narcissa, professors are less often dodged, but still weaker because of our weak damage.
It is the only opponent against whom I don't feel we are totally ridiculous...
+1... the amount of potions that I need to use vs adversaries and then [boring] time that I need to spend just to take down adversaries when compared to my girlfriend (Auror) is just ridiculous. Please either balance the professions and/or make it easier for players to switch professions (maybe make green books available without having too wait half-year till people being able to complete a profession?!?)
I echo the comments above and it’s again disheartening to see an important thread to manifestly improve the game seemingly ignored. @hpwulola I’m sure just not seen?
Anecdotally, a not as yet maxed auror can defeat Lockhart potionless whereas it’s one or two potions for a maxed prof. A maxed magi can defeat anything. The maxed prof will almost always defeat Draco and Fenrir without a potion (but sometimes need one). All quite telling; it’s a clear disadvantage and if there’s a logic that it’s somehow offsetting an advantage elsewhere, then it’s punishingly severe.
On the contrary, it would seem to stand to reason that a distant second in survivability would be a narrow second in damage. Not the worst. I have been told in other channels that I’m applying common sense to the situation, however, and that this is a fool’s errand!
Thanks at least in part to some of the gaslighting around the SOS tree, I’m sure there are profs out there who would respec if they could, and of course are even denied that.
Agreed!
I am a professor, don’t want to switch proffesions because of this. But i hoped the New trainings coming with the advisaries would lead to better balance.
They didn’t. And that is disappointing.
i certainly hope they will at least enable debuffs and shields to make it a little better. Hand out the basic focus And a little after the first two enemies!
at least do this before the lethals come into play.
The continuing silence from the Authority is deafening!
I can assure you they have no intention of changing how professions work until the 2nd profession plans for forts, whenever they come. They have a 10 years plan and they have never deviated from it so far. (No idk what it is).
That would indeed be a sad truth, but there have been plenty of failed leaders who have unwaveringly stuck to a flawed plan (or a once good one that doesn’t adapt) before HPWU!
One query @Drakonite - if you don’t know the plan how did you determine it’s never been deviated from? I’d be surprised if that were possible for the team unless there’s a great deal of flexibility built into the plan already - COVID alone has brought open changes to how events have been run for example.
@HypnoticMichael from the very fact that they've so far never once done anything from/with/about player feedback, they nerfed the portks after AS was implemented, HPWUFazes asked a bunch of Q's abt how they could be improved after basically every single discord server/community raged for days, a few hundred ppl gave feedback, nothing was done. After the fragmaggedon May 2020 update same deal, they didnt move an inch from what/how they wanted things, after they nerfed the trace charm in sept. same deal. Even with 'defeat your highest chamber' task it had to be asked to be removed for months before they relented, MONTHS. And yeah they made some changes due to covid but if they hadnt theyd have lost the few ppl they still have playing the game, that was not listening to playe feedback that was the bare minimum common logic when you have a game that requires ppl to walk outside and a global pandemic (and gov.'s measures against pandemic spreading) make that walking outside tougher to impossible. They havent deviated once from their 'plan', and they won't.
@Drakonite Appreciate you sharing the thought pattern - thanks! I saw that yet another post has popped up with the feedback about profs so perhaps we can add this latest mishap to your list! :-)
