Ridiculous tasks

I can't be the only person who has had a nightmare on Task Page 2 with the 350 Brilliant XP. Actually, I know I'm not, because its been the prevailing complaint in the Facebook group I'm in.

Every event this year I have managed to complete the main tasks, even if its been down to the wire. This one is 6hrs to go and I still need 54 BEXP.

I get that my local weather stopping me from going out is not on Niantic (4 days torrential rain, two days of mostly rain - its been a very soggy week!). But I opened 6 Portkeys in one go, hoping to boost the BEXP...I got 51 points. From 6 portkeys. Previous events I've only opened what was needed and gotten up to 200 XP easy. What the blazes, Niantic?

Runes in the Knight Bus were useless as well. Not just because they weren't dropping foundables. Due to the lack of traces in my local area, I couldn't level up to get Runes. Even using TTD potions and DDs in the nearby Inn, well, see photos.

Theres no way I can complete this event. Even if I had bought keys and potions and the event bundles, the absolute absence of traces would've stopped me. I don't know what Niantic tweaked but my geographical location definitely suffered.

That XP task was just not on. I've been loving this game, pushing through the event exhaustion because I wanted the story. But if tasks like this and the lack of ability to complete them is the new normal for Brilliant Events, I'm not the only player I know who is going to quit the game.
