Why is there silence??? Why will no one from Portkey Games or Niantic or HPWU address this? I’ve posted multiple times here and in discord and on Facebook and on Instagram. I’m not the only one. Why isn’t this being addressed? This is either intentional or tone deaf. ADDRESS IT.

They don’t need to address anything. What Hermione says is perfectly reasonable in the context of the game/universe. It has nothing to do with whatever you think it does.

@MtPollux @ScarletB12 I think it's a context issue. Hermione is talking about Death Eaters wearing masks and hiding their faces as 'their cause is unpopular' (so if all goes south they can still be in the community as people can deny their presence as Death Eaters while continue in the society or whatever other reason)
What this one is saying is keeping in mind the COVID-19 context, saying that masks are a sign of weakness when a lot of people are not wearing masks and putting other people at risk, this statement from Hermione could be interpreted as a way of encouraging people to forgo that protection.
Atleast this is what I got from her statement.

If anything, I would say it's much more akin to commenting on **** hooded masks.
😷 I happen to live where masks are popular and anyone refusing to wear one is the selfish fool.😷

People should learn how to put everything back into context instead of getting insta- offended.
Or we point out issues that we see and bring it to the attention of the developers so they can determine if it was intentional by someone or a tone deaf mistake. If it was intentional by an employee, that is problematic.
Yeah. Because wearing a mask because you're siding with evil (death eaters are pre covid19) and wearing a mask out of sanitary reasons is something similar?
That's one of those "I'm upset for all the wrong reasons" facebook posts.
If you can't distinguish the difference between those two, maybe the "error" for once isn't on the developer side.

Well, one can agree or disagree. Because it has not been addressed, we will never know the intent. That dev could’ve made an honest mistake or a blatant statement. Without knowing the intent, one that makes an assumption is neither right nor wrong.
Well I for one never even thought it would mean anything else than the death eaters masks, as it was MASKED death eater you placed when the text came. There is nothing to be addressed. Stop finding things to be offended by, when there aren't any. When you hear hooves, think of ponies, not zebras.
rowling has said what the DE masks represent, anything beyond that is overthinking it.

Under covid conditions raising the issue of wearing masks was pretty poorly thought out. It added nothing to game play, so why do it?
