I'd like to share my friend code privately with people I actually want to be friends with. And not the entire world. Also would like to privately message people I am near so we can meet up for coffee and such.
I would like this as well. There are some topics that are not HP:WU related that I'd like to discuss with other users I meet without getting a strike on my account (like I have twice now). For example, there was someone I was discussing Persian food with.
Many of us come from Ingress, through PoGo, and into HP. There are times we may want to discuss the other games and our experiences with them. Under current rules, we can't have those conversations.
It would also help when you find people within a geographic radius from you and you want to organize a group outing (as @H4rdC4ndy said regarding coffee).
I feel it would make this more of a community. But with that option, the ability to block users should also be administered in tandem.
Like I'd like to add you to my friends but don't want to give out my friend code. In public. Unlike young people I don't think everyone with a pulse automatically = 'friend'
I also agree with this. I think it would be helpful to have some side-conversations that maybe are not for everyone.
One possible trick around the system (for now)...would be to post your code you want to give the person...accept them, and then change your code so you don't have to worry with new incomers. I have only added about 80 people so far, so I'm not close to maxing out. But I will probably be changing my code a lot more once I start getting closer to maxing out.
Yes to being able to see players nearby, with the option to go incognito.. and also yes to the mailing system in the forum but ESPECIALLY in wizardsunite!
I absolutely disagree with being able to see players nearby. It's a safety issue. Ingress had the issue with people literally stalking others (with intent to harm property or individuals). Not a cool idea.
However, as I've mentioned before, I think it would be nice to be able to create official local teams for an outing and the members of those teams can opt in to be seen by other members of that given team... and they also would then have the ability to opt out at any time as well. i.e. it should be a toggle option during team play.
But a general ability to view other players? No. Very bad idea, even with an "incognito" option. There is absolutely, positively no reason in this game to need something like that. Ingress, yes... one could argue perhaps even pokemon go (to battle over a gym), but this game is 100% co-op so no need to concern one's self with where others are on the map.
It got crazy bad in ingress people making charts of people's schedules and intent to harm them. Not everyone playing these games are nice. It's super naive to think they are.

You're in luck! I have no pulse!
Feel free to add me first and I'll accept:
Nevermind... you already did. hehe
Yeah found the rollcall post wanted to do it but don't want to leave my friend code....
I was in the middle of typing the above post, opened the app to get my code for you and... there you were. LOL
How did you manage to find the one I was in with all the 'friends list' posts? LOL That's some next level sleuthing.
I'm a next level sleuth... I function on instinct.

Yeah. I'll be changing mine soon too. I now have only 48 but that's 28 people I don't need.
Perhaps PM and other perks will come with forum rank/status? One can hope.
I don't think that would be viable though, @ZookiTabooki
For example, I'm rank 3. Let's say I can PM. Would that mean that I can't PM Rank 1 members? Or they couldn't PM me?
Many people I like on these forums and would like to have discussions with are rank 1.
I just don't think it's an option at all right now. So I hope they consider it because their rules here are very ambiguous and yet very strict.

Too bad we can't leave discord names on here.
